from samui to pattaya ! Suvarnabhumi or u tapao

U-Tapao is quicker to get to, allow 45 mins drive from Pattaya. Bangkok Airways sometimes have 'double bonus' promotions running, got a deal to Samui in July for just under 4k return. Hope this helps.

U-Tapao. Transport system is crap but they do prepare mini buses when there are flights coming in. Dont miss the one option presented to you at the lobby! Expensive but still cheaper than a cab from Suvarnabhumi ; around 400 one way to pattaya if memory serves me right

U-Tapao is where you want to land for Pattaya.

I clocked it once taking a mate there and from Pattaya to the airport i clocked up less than 40 kilometres from my home on the Darkside.

Now for the down side or ‘rip-off’.

It costs as much in a taxi from U-Tapao to Pattaya as it does from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya which is three times the distance.

Expect to pay 800 baht upwards as there are no alternatives and for such a short journey its a complete rip-off.

Use the mini bus service if you can.

I think its 200 baht per person.

I'm thinking of doing Samui in the New Year. I'm only considering Swampy as there are more flights per day to choose from and I can use Bell Travel for the airport run so no taxis. :D

Go to BKK and fly with Air Asia to Surat Thani then get the ferry across. It's well cheap, I have just paid 1000 baht one way.

Just bear in mind you cannot do a walk-on with Bell buses from Swampy to Pattaya anymore.

If you don't book a seat in advance your turned away.

Go to their web site for details.

I live in the Pattaya area and this is the telephone number of the taxi guy i use and can recommend him.

You can if there are seats on the bus but I do book in advance, as soon as I get my flight details.

U-tapao airport is small and easy to get through security. When I want to samui, I walked threw the door and was getting on the place 15 minutes later. My taxi was late picking me up and I was sure I wouldn't make the flight. But, no problem. The Taxi ride cost the same as going to BKK, that sucked. Think I'd take a shuttle next time.

Bell Bus Service from Suvarnabhumi airport to Pattaya.

You must now pre-book the Bell bus if traveling from BKK airport.

Previously you could turn up at the Bell-Bus stand and buy a ticket, that is no longer the case.

You must pre-book by telephone or on their web-site.

There's no point in arguing with the Bell bus staff as they will just ignore you or send you to the 'government' Pattaya bus booking desk.

To quote what it states on their web-site which is in big bold letters........................"WE DO NOT ACCEPT WALK-ON PASSENGERS"

What they say and what they do are two different things.

Websites in LOS are not always accurate...... never trust an internet timetable!

Let's hear it from recent passengers as to whether they have seen walk-ons permitted or turned away when there was empty seats..

Methinks they would rather eat shit than turn down a fare... :banghead

I have booked a songkran season 1200hr seat on Bell but my flight is scheduled to arrive 1000hr. I'll double time my fat ass to the bus level and skip my traditional arrivial kow-ka-moo at the canteen for the sake of this forum and try to catch the 10am!

However be warned that the food (actually more the timing!) will most probably make me miss the 10am bus

Some people value their time over the baht. You've save yourself about 1000 baht each way and added at least 10 additional hours to your travel time.

I think Bangkok Air uses smaller aircraft to/from U-Tapao ???

From Samui to U-Tapao it has always been on a prop plane. They typically serve something like a sandwich on the plane.
