Electric shaver repair

Recommended Posts

My Braun electric shaver has just developed a fault. It isn't recharging when I plug it into the mains and the recharge light isn't illuminating. Does anybody know where I might get it repaired in Pattaya before I go and buy a new one?

Check it isn't a dual voltage thing. Shaver points can be problematic and sometimes only 110v and sometimes your equipment does need a flick of the switch, though newer ones should change voltage automatically. My clippers run on either but if charging on 100v, the charging light is very dim or invisible, but they do charge.

OK Mr.Smug. You offered me a lift when I was quite happy to catch a baht

bus. Then you start with your sarcy remarks. This is the second time

you've tried to character assassinate me. The last time I bit my lip.

This time I can't hold back. Just don't offer me a fucking lift again,

OK! Some people have their head stuck so far up their own arse they can't

see when their remarks are snide and hurtful. Be very careful. This old

dog has a bite.

Post 2 looks good. They advertise this place a lot so must need the work. Although for some reason they wouldn't touch my Fluke meter, but wanted a sizeable deposit off me to send it to the Service centre in Bangkok.

Thanks to Bigleg. I took the shaver to Amorn downstairs at Tukcom yesterday. Today they called me and said they could repair it....cost 500 baht. I said to go ahead. Picked it up today at 5pm. Turns out it was the plug that was faulty. They supplied a new plug and fitted it to the original wire. Works fine now. Perhaps a little over the top on price for a plug, but beats the hell out of buying a new shaver. I priced similar up yesterday at Central...over 5,000 baht. Overall I'm pleased with the service I got, and also pleased with this forum and the members who contribute positively.

BTW, I'm sure if you'd known it was the plug it would of been cheaper, my guess is you got charged (no pun intended) for the service of fault finding in the first place.

Well, unfortunately the saga continues. The day after I picked it up it had lost it's charge again and I took it back. No problems, they said the electrician would look at it and call me. The next day I went and spoke to the electrician and he told me he had replaced the two batteries inside the shaver. He had put the two faulty ones in the plastic bag along with the shaver. They were AA sized batteries with a small point at both ends. I assume they were the re-chargeable type. Before leaving I switched the shaver on and it appeared fully charged. Surprisingly I wasn't asked for any more money. Good service and I think I'm happy. However over the last few days the shaver has been losing it's charge (which would be normal) and yesterday I put it on charge. This morning I was able to get a full shave out of it before I let it "die". I put it on charge for a few hours while I went into town. On returning the shaver had charged a little, so I kept it plugged in. I just read this thread and it's prompted me to have a look at the progress. I've unplugged it and have got about half a shave out of it before it just died again. Normally a full charge would have taken an hour and lasted about ten shaves. Tomorrow is NEW SHAVER DAY. I've seen some at Boots in Royal Garden Plaza including their own brand which I've had before, so that's where I'm headed.

What would other BMs do in my situation? Take it back again, or bite the bullet?

Bite the bullet mate..perhaps it was time for a new one anyhow... :banghead

This could be indicative of a few probles, poor rechargeable batteries, charger is defective, there is some leakage. They probably used quite cheap rechargeable batteries and they have a high failure rate.

I am a cheap charlie and have messed about with 8-9 of those mosquito zapper bats swapping batteries to get a couple that hold the charge and fry the bugs pretty well.

Good luck....
