Over in the Nightmarch forum I have mentioned this.

Another poster presumably out of Thailand says he can get to the Newspaper no problem...

When I use this link

I go here, which isn't Pattaya Today. I am in Thailand.

:D

I used the link in the OP and got the Pattaya Today newspaper. I am also in Thailand and using IE 7.

As Big Brian said, try doing a "hard" refresh [Ctrl+F5]

If you know about IP configurations and DNS servers try using this one: 202.69.137.137 It's the one I'm using.

It seems like one of those pages you get when you go to a domain which is for sale, so they put advertising content on it, and the owner gets some kickbacks when a link is clicked.

But most likely it's some kind of a (created) DNS-error, try pinging the domain, over here it came up with this ip: 74.53.102.162.

What is the ISP? he might have fucked around with the DNS-settings, if he routes all the visitors to his advertising page, he might get some advertising revenues, TIT. :banghead

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm in Thailand, on Maxnet, and can get to the Pattaya Today site using the DNS server I posted above.

So what ISP are you guys with the problem using?

It's a DNS glitch then, because I get

Pinging pattayatoday.net [69.64.155.21] with 32 bytes of data:

It's not just a glitch, the 69.xx IP is not pingable from here, but it however traces back to eNom , which is a domain reseller.

Someone (who is not the real owner) has apparently parked this domain.

So there's something fishy about it, if you want to find out, I'd suggest sending enom.com an e-mail asking what's going on.

I am a computer illiterate so could someone please tell me if a message, at the bottom left corner of the page reached by going to the above link, which says:

transferring data from live.smiledj.net

is suspicious.

The message does not go away.

No, it's not suspicious. it's a link to the streaming music they have on their pages. Here's a line of code from the Pattaya today home page

Amazing....

I tried [Ctrl+F5], nothing different..

Changed my primary DNS to 202.69.137.137, nothing different. Still per the picture....

The fact that some guys do get the Newspaper confuses me unless they are getting cached info and I am getting current, and someone has parked here.

My ISP is TOT......

Bloody computers......

Now http://pattayatoday.net is working for me using Firefox and accessing from Thailand.

I think it was a matter of DNS propagation not being complete after some server change or something.

I noticed that all the Nightmarch articles from the past had been uploaded on March 16, 2010, no matter when they were published, so my guess is that they are moved to a new server with new software for displaying content.

Seems my theory is (partly) out of the window then.

Id the DNS thing doesn't work, you can always try a proxy, odds are that will do the trick.

Well this morning Pattaya Today is back at it's regular URL.

I think MM hit it on the head.

Interesting that someone parks an advert on something while it is 'under change'.

I shall go and read Nightmarch...

Shit... I just thought I would read Nightmarch and tried my link and that damned advert page is back again.

You all are very welcome.

Couple of days back, I flipped an email to the webmaster of Pattaya Today explaining the problem and he replied that there was a problem with CAT. That problem has been fixed so the site is visible.

Edit: I think if you are still having problems viewing you might need to clear your cache. Just google "how to clear cache on ......" with ..... = Firefox 3.x or Internet Explorer which ever version you have.

No it isn't. Not for me anyhow.

Cleared cache.... and F5 too, still the OP adverts this morning. Someone seems to have taken over the site and the DNS is going along with it.

I am begining to wonder if Pattaya Today are posting the page while they sort out their website...
