Are you sure you can't get your money back? I think some airlines are offering refunds even though they don't need to. Who are you flying with?

If there is a sale, there will be tax. No refund of ticket, no refund of tax.

(PS I'm meant to be flying on Monday but will most likely cancel as well  )

Kingfisher. Do You have any info on them or any idea how I can get any info.I have tried the web but nothing I have found is so far relevant.

I have to confess I had not heard of them! I've found their website and I assume you have - http://www.flykingfisher.com/

I suggest you give them a call tomorrow if you booked directly with them and not through an agent. Phone the agent if you used one.

I booked my travel with EVA through NetFlights who seemed to think that I could get a refund.

I would think they would allow you to change to an alternative date - that's what I've done with BA (was due to fly out 5 days ago) so hopefully things will be better on 14 June so I can fly out. BA will also let me change to another destination so maybe it's time for me to go to Vietnam or Cambodia.

I'm due to fly out tomorrow night. I called my airline (EVA) and they advised they would reimburse the full price of my ticket if I decide to cancel. I'm on the fence. Waiting until tomorrow to decide. I would hope your airline would do the same for your ticket. I did book directly through EVA's website.

Some airlines who don't give a refund may allow you to defer your travel dates. It's worth asking the question, given what has happened in LOS they may be very understanding!

You can get a refund of the tax element - not the surcharges though. That effectively means the Airline Passenger Duty from UK and the Airport Departure tax from Thailand (as well as any additional taxes levied for transit in India). Refunds are usually, but not always, subject to an administration charge which makes the whole process pointless. The exact prices will be laid out in the detailed pricing of your ticket.

If you had booked with one of the middle eastern airlines you could have changed your trip to Manila or KL and done a couple of weeks in Angeles. It's worth noting that life continues as normal in the south of Thailand which, in many cases, is a lot cheaper than Pattaya or Bangkok.

I doubt the admin fee would be applied in this case since the reason for refund was beyond the passenger's control.

thanks for al the replies and help,My problem is that I have a 3 month fixed date ticket (was very cheap)and whilst I might have tried some of the stuff advised ,like Manila,I cant really do that for 3 months as I go to pattaya to see mates and that is why I now go, mainly.I am at the minute on the phone to Travelocity ,and have been on hold for about 20-25 minutes still waiting.I will post more--------------------

Now they have answered but put me on hold again whilst they check my details.---------------

At last they have answered me and the good news is that they will refund the full price of my ticket so I have canceled .I hope I can go next month but wont hold my breath.

After having told me that I could get a full refund they called me up the next day and announced that they were no longer allowing this and it would now cost me £100 to cancel. The Airline(Kingfisher) seems to be the one playing hard ball as travelocity have said they will not add on their usual £45 fee for changes so I get the cancelation for "just" £100.
