I think todays game Argentina v Germany is the most exciting prospect for aficianados.

We shall see (in about three hours). However, before that match starts I have HUGE doubts anything could be more exciting than the last five minutes (actual time, not ref's time) of the Ghana-Uruguay match.

The other thing that occurred to me in the past 20 minutes reading the forum - that game was decided on a hand ball by Uruguay. Why none of that Maradona-Henry language in the forum about the hand ball that sent Ghana out? Doesn't anyone think that Uruguay were rewarded for breaking the rules... no, for breaking the cardinal rule everyone keeps dumping on gridiron football for, that football is played with feet?

Hi,

The guy got send off and a penalty was awarded. So justice was seen to be done. I like Ghana but they are verging on being a dirty team and the ref gave them a lot of latitude. Also the linesmen wrongly flagged Uruguay offside several times when they may have scored. Also the free kick which lead to the handball was not a free kick.

I would be happy to see a rule introduced where a Ref' can award a goal in the circumstance we saw last night. That was a dead cert goal, stopped illegally on the line. The offender should be red carded and a goal awarded. That certain goal turning into a maybe goal, is ridiculous. Uruguay went through by benefit of someone cheating. 2guns

I have no ideas how the player who missed the penalty feels today, having 'let down' an entire Continent. The hand baller, is now a hero- well done son, worked well for us, must put that into the training manual for the youth team. :D

In too many ways this W.C. has been a bad advert for football and I don't know how/why it happened.

At least there may be some shake up at The FA after our debacle.

Hi,

That is not the rule at the moment. I agree it would be a better rule. Cheating is no stranger to that Ghanain team.

So it's okay then.

I just wanted to check with the experts. Looked like a professional foul to me, and well rewarded too. But as stipulated, I don't know much about soccer. Don't want to, really.

Hi,

The guy was sent off. A penalty was awarded. The Ghanain guy couldn't impose the full penalty by missing the penalty kick which is an important part of the game.

Hi,

I feel the same. I think Germany could have the game won by now. I hope Argentina come back in 2nd half as I have a small bet on them to win World Cup. Wont be crying if Germany win though.

Living in The Netherlands in the deep south (15 minutes by car to Germany and Belgium) and having German friends and neighbours..... may the best win. First half Germany is impressing (frightning sometimes :ahhgg: ) I'have however to be honest when muller got a yellow card, He, if they win, misses the next game.

For me, the two most influential players (up to now) have been Sneijder and Schweinsteiger - and their women are hot.

GERMANY, THE BEST TEAM SOFAR ON THIS WC, NO DOUBT

As you'll be aware from Dutch history, being the best team in the competition counts for nowt over one game.

Hi,

Deutschland ueber Alles, splendid game. Opening the Becks as I speak as I feel the other game may be painful to watch. The South Americans have never forgiven the Conquistadors. I remember when Holland got an early penalty against West Germany(English Ref) and had a great start. Germany came back and won the game. I cried that day.

We got velly drunk that day. Resulting in having two hangovers the next day...

Ps: that was the 7th july... my birthday. So I had 3 hangovers

What a drubbing for Argentina!

How do you say "hand of God" in German?

Die Hand Gottes. I feel elated about Germany having won, but saddened about young Thomas Müller getting a second yellow card for that handball, which was a very harsh decision by the referee from Usbekistan. Thomas Müller from Bayern München has been one of the discoveries of this world cup. He is now banned from playing in next Wednesday's semi-final. Joachim Löw copped a lot of flack for picking him in the first place. Our coach deserves all the credit for picking all those youngsters and making this new German team into such formidable opponents. I don't want to be whingeing, but not having Thomas available in the next game, could make a huge difference to our chances of reaching the final.

Yes, I also feel very saddened, no really.... :clap1  But it is what you say he is still young and now he has learned that it is called football. Some never learn, like Arjan Robben.

By the way, it seems to me that you post under false flag...

He is indeed a great talent :llaugh
