I have a feeling the yanks are going to win this. Interesting match so far and a fair penalty given to the US

Its squeaky bum time as a certain Man.U manager has been known to say.

The first extra time & perhaps penalty shootouts so far in the WC.

Pretty diving free from both sides,

Game well on !

I had gotten Ghana in a draw to win .... they won't.

The USA can be proud of their performance and i hope the game gets stronger in the USA

Ghana played well. Should be an interesting game against Uruguay with two completely different styles.

I reckon Uruguay will take it though.

Might be an all South American tournament in the semis comes to think of it

They're my guys, but the USA deserved the loss.

1. Finally started to play around minute 21...again. How the fuck do you come out flat as a pancake in the knockout round of the World Cup?

2. Coaching (A) ...Ricardo Clark in after being out of games 2 and 3...egregious turnover, yellow card and pulled at 30 minute mark. Fresher legs could have helped in a 120 minute game. (Bee) ... Chronic slow starts; it's all about having your team ready to go from the first minute.

3. USA had multiple one on one chances against Kingston and could not score; it's tough to win in this tournament with only 1 consistent finisher.

4. No sour grapes here; Ghana deserved the win. They capitalized when given the opportunity, and held off the USA when they got it going. Good Luck to them in the quarters.

No refereeing to blame, that's for sure. I was especially impressed with the non-call of the clear penalty on the USA on the second Ghana goal - the ref gave it a play-on and it turned into a goal. Very excellent no-call in my opinion. A lot of refs would have called that obvious penalty, but no-call was spot on. Good officiating all the way. THAT was a match where you really didn't notice the ref, he did not intrude in any manner.

I thought the younger Africans had blown it early in the second half. The US came out firing on all cylinders and it seemed a win for them was on the cards.

Credit to both teams for their sportsmanship and commitment. Neither side were trying to rile an opponent to get them a red card. The Ref' seamed to understand the tension in all the players and made some allowance for it, but kept control.

The early goal, made it interesting to watch- America pushing for their equalizer Ghana, very aware of the opponents ability to score. The saves by the African goalie, the breakaways by both side.... Two resulting in a goal for Ghana.... Bloody good game especially for Dempsey and the Fulham Defender, who have had a long hard season.

As an aside, Mick J. and Bill C. were having a good time watching the game together. Mick is really a cricket man. :thumbup

I hope the American people enjoyed the tension of the W.C as much as everyone else. It has put a smile and frown on millions of faces and needs to be shared by millions more.

Agreed. It looked like BC was having a really good time. He seems like a decent enough bloke.

USA had a pretty good run and has served notice that it'll be back. Will be interesting to see if this year's performance translates into some lasting popularity for soccer over the next few years.

They have a game thats in between boxing/street fighting, and ice skating

Actually soccer is real popular as a school sport, it just hasn't caught on as a spectator sport. As for when Canada will have a presence in the World Cup, well, I don't expect to see it in my lifetime.
