I watched about 30 minutes of that game and one of the announcers continued to call Spurs,"The" Spurs,like The Yankes,The Dodgers,ect.Spurs are referred to as "Spurs",period.The other commentator referred to them as Spurs.And this was one of the match commentators here in the US.Soccer has a long way to go in my country.You'd think that prior to the match,during the match,at halftime,whenever,someone would have corrected him.

My point is that "The-polka-dot-ball-sport" is not catching on in the US, as evidence by the stupid US info-tainment anchors telling Hank Theirry that they got caught up in the World Cup excitement, yet they didn't even know who won. The WC was the "flavor-of-the-month", at least until the US team lost. "REAL" US sports fans didn't follow it and don't care about it. They were too busy watching the NBA Finals and baseball - sports where games never end in a tie.

Mate, I'm so pleased a semi-literate closet soccer lover is correcting my spelling mistakes. As for the Tour de France, wasn't Landis stripped of his win, when he was found out to have used drugs. He has now dobbed in his best ex-friend and ex-room mate, Lance Armstrong, a 7 times Tour de France winner, for taking the same drugs. It is only a matter of time before Armstrong will be stripped of his 7 Tour de France wins. Go easy on the drink, down there in boring Rayong.

My soccer-loving friends promised me there'd be a soccer-free period after the WC ended, but at my local bar the only TrueVision channels they ever play have been showing replays of WC games every night. Some boardies have suggested I actually pay for the satillite hook up at home. Sure I'd get to see the occassional baseball game on ASN, but I'd also be paying for all those other TrueVision sports channels, and that means soccer, soccer, and more soccer. No thank you. At least I get my crappy cable hook-up for free, and don't have to fork out one satang for the "polka-dot-ball-sport".
