I am unclear on two points concerning Pattaya's ATM's & hope that BM's can clarify them for me.

 

If a Wanker takes his foreign bank ATM card to a teller inside one of Pat's banks & executes a cash withdrawl at the teller's station, will he avoid the B150 transaction charge that the bank's ATM machine would assess?

 

Would the exchange rate given by the human for the cash withdrawl be equal to/better than/ worse than the rate given by the machine?

No he won't. On the contrary, the 150 baht is specifically and exclusively for ATM machines. If you take cash into the teller's station, and exchange it, you will NOT be charged 150 baht.

One guy once posted that he could take his ATM card to the teller and withdraw money as a "point of sale" purchase. The only fee would be the currency exchange fee of about 1%. Supposedly, that would be a lot cheaper than using the ATM. I've never tried it, though.

If you have foreign cash to exchange, well that wasn't the question.

I believe the rate will be the same too.......

Downside, it takes a bit longer and you may be asked for ID.

Yes you WILL avoid the 150-baht charge, which is only for ATMs. There are other charges, perhaps, and it will take more time, and the hours are restricted, but you won't pay the specific 150 baht.

I asked this very question a few days ago at Kasikorn beside Tukcom when I used my FairFX prepaid credit card for the first time. The lady inside told me there was a 3% charge from the teller but no 150B charge & no charge via the ATM except for the standard 150B.

 

I think she also said there was a limit of 60000B at the ATM but I couldn't get anymore than 20000B although this may have been my fault pressing the wrong buttons. When I pressed for other amount I got a negative response.

Rigt but some won't do it unless you have an A/C @ the branch

I tried to use my credit card to withdraw cash at Kaiskorn in the new central Mall and

was told they could not do and to try the Yellow bank opposite.

went to Kaiskorn as have account there.
