I will never stay there again or recommend it.

Vic ia an absolute arsehole.

No he's not, he's a very switched-on businessman, and a pleasant, down-to-earth chap to talk to. If you stay there, as I did several times, you're in good hands and should ordinarily have a good time right in the middle of Soi half-dozen. Otherwise join our very own Paps in a minority of, er, one.

I agree totally with Bushcraft regarding this establishment - I've been staying here off and on for years and Vic's always been friendly and helpful with me; the rooms are well appointed and consistently clean and I like the fact that the ground floor is a restaurant and not a regular bar.

Stayed there in September. Asked for and received a first floor room (216) so I didn't have to climb too many stairs. I'm old you see. Noticed the deluxe room on the floor faces soi 6/1 and is pretty big and includes a sofa. The small room on this floor is really small. Just enough room to maneuver around the bed. The room I had was quite comfy for 800 baht. The in-room electronic safe is bolted to the wall. It's too small for a lap top but there is a hook bolted to the wall for a security tether. I used the hot pot every day. Fridge is empty but 2 bottles of water replaced every day. They have a new to me system for security. The counter girls are pretty alert and ask for id's. They have hired an actual guard to stay on the back stairs at night. No longer just to moto guys watching the back.

Hi,

Been staying there since 2001 and they have always had a security guard on the back entrance Soi 6/1, at night, since then, where you go up the steps to your room after the bar was closed. The counter girls are not there after the bar has closed, the guard always asked me for my key so he could check my room number. No check on the girl. Vic was also a very nice guy and would do all he could to help you. Food was very good.

I've also stayed there several times for several weeks at a time.

You've obviously only ever met Vic Mr. Nice Guy.

Did you ever have a problem arise during your stay and was it dealt with professionally? I did and Vic failed miserably. I'm an easy going Guy and let many things pass before I complain but when I do, I expect action, as a paying Guest. I was astounded by his reaction.

I'm positive I'm not the only Guest that has encountered this.

Security Guard always checked Girls' I.D.

Took Identical Twins back one night and only one Girl had her I.D. Try explaining to a half asleep Security Guy that if one I.D. was ok then obviously her Twin Sister should be good to go too. And no I didn't complain when he turned her away but I was pissed off for sure!

with the building work going on during my stay vic offered to move me to another room if noise was too much and kept me up to press with how things were going on a regular basis, seemed very obliging to me and bought me a few beers as recompense which wasn't needed

yes the guard always checked all my girls id's keeping them to be reclaimed later from either him or the bar following morning

Use the back entrance after midnight. Top floor (fourth) has the deluxe rooms with balconies.

I seem to recall that our American pals count the ground floor as floor one so in English terms there are only 3 floors at the QV

Stayed many times, latest a couple of weeks ago. All the building work is finished. I've always found everything to my liking - 900Bt balcony rooms on the top floor are good value. Some point out it doesn't have a lift - which could be a factor if you're unfit or not mobile. Others point out it doesn't have a pool - which it doesn't (I always force myself to take an extra shag across the road to make up for that).

Was a decent number of Indian guests this time, don't know if that was a one-off or a trend, but it changed the atmosphere a little.

I was there end of Sept 2010, and I'll return. Great food, room was a great value (900Bht deluxe w/balcony). I agree with everything that has been written in this thread, with the exception of the guy who has a problem with Vic.

Vic seemed a nice enough guy, always up for a chat with a guest. My guess is you came off wrong with him and were treated accordingly.

  • 11 months later...

Hi, just joined. I stayed at Queen Vic in February 2011 on my first visit to Pattaya. I'd booked for 6 nights on the internet following a recommendation by a friend.

When I arrived I asked if I could stay for an extra 3 nights. The lady at the bar checked in her book and said that would be ok, so I said great. On the 6th day as I was on my way out for some breakfast I saw Vic by the bar. He said your checking out today - yes. I said well I booked an extra 3 nights and was told that was ok. Vic said sorry but the lady forgot/didn't make a note of this and he had taken another booking for my room.

I was a bit upset at this as Vic was not able to offer me anything else as he was fully booked. I asked how long I had to find another place and was told that they wanted my room back in 1 hr.

Luckily, I managed to get accomodation at the lagoon bar nearby, but I wasn't impressed with that experience.

The other negative was that there was a low pitched humming noise in my room all through the night which I found irritating. I did mention this to the staff their and was told it was probably the air con and the would check it. The noise carried on for the rest of the time. I did check the noise out myself one night and found it was coming from a generator that as bolt to the wall at the back of the Vic, it running most of the night for some reason and produced a humming noise through to my room overlooking Soi 6 at the front.

Although the Queen Vic was not expensive (think my room was 900b), I could not really recommend it based on my experience.

However, if you crash out at night and nothing wakes you and you make sure your booking is confirmed i writing, it could be fine!

Great customer service from Vic.

At least you got a half hearted apology.

On my most recent stay (Oct 2011), they forgot to enter my booking as well. It was pre paid, in full, so I'm not sure how you "forget".
