I was just wondering, I paid nearly £8.00 for 21 X 250mg Amoxicillin Capsules, would they be cheeper in Thailand?

For amoxycillin, it would be cheaper in Thailand I'm sure. I brought some 500mg amoxycillin strips back with me. Always handy to have. Sorry I can't remember the exact price but they were cheap.

Yes most medicines like that are cheaper although you have to shop around as one or two rip off Pharmacies may try the Farang thing, its an idea if you know exactly what you want to send in your G/F to buy them as she will probably get them cheaper.

Yes, they would be cheaper here and your antibiotics would be less here than on prescription in the UK.

Particularly if you got them from Fascinos.

Yes, I suffer from reflux, and exacerbated by Viagra or Kamagra, so take Omeprazole 20mg, to fix it. In Australia I need a prescription and they cost a small fortune. I stock up in Thailand without the prescription and for a fraction of the cost. Of course the other products mentioned are cheaper too.

I found Thailand more expensive than the UK prescription cost for branded drugs but about 50% cheaper for generics. The good thing about the UK is you can cap your costs at £104 per year by buying an annual prescription certificate. Worth doing if you get 15 items or more per year.

One small point, many drugs have a warning on them "Do not store above 25 C"

 

Can you be sure any pharmacy outside of the big hospitals will comply with this advice?

small chemist beside 7/11 top of soi 3 a strip of amoxcillian about 80 bhat 5 day course and many other drugs cheap. i,ve used it many years and no problems

Many generics are dirt cheap in SEA compared with the prescription charge in the UK. I take Atenolol, Allopurinol, Colchicine, and Diclofenac (Voltarol), and they all cost pennies. You can get Voltarol over the counter in the UK now, I think? I'd guess that it's still more expensive than buying it here.

In Scotland it works out at 28 quid for 12 boxes of 4 Cialis over a year if you pay in advance.

I think for most prescription drugs such as amoxicillian and other antibiotics Thailand will be cheaper, especially if generic. Also, usually the pharmacy will be cheaper than the hospital. You should, if at all possible try to get from a place that has been recommended by someone using the products sold there. I read not long ago that there was a raid with a bunch of impostor drugs found, in Bangkok I believe. I've had to buy antibiotics on several occasions, chronic sinuous, and they were cheaper than if I had paid the deductible from my insurance back in the states. I'm not sure how that would work out for long term use, many insurance companies have a cheaper rate for large quantities/long term use. Doesn't matter to me, all I have is Medicare and the supplemental my former employer pays for, which is absolutely useless here and if the supplemental company finds out I am here they will cancel. Just gotta' keep those 'ol fingers crossed and hope that when the time comes........... I have the republican health plan, don't get sick and if you do, die soon.

I agree pharmacy will be cheaper than private hospitals ,as private hospitals make good profit from their own pharmacy at the hospital ,but gov hospital and gov clinics i have found cheaper than pharmacy.

 

For example 8mg blopress for blood pressure 30 bhts tab from pharmacy and 22 bhts tab from Khon Khon Gov Hospital

My last job while working in California provided prescription drugs. A blood pressure drug, an ace inhibitor cost me a co-payment of $20 a month. Alopurinol for gout was also $20 a month. When I retired and moved to Thailand, I found out that the ace inhibitor cost me 300 baht or about $10 for 100 foil wrapped tablets. The alopurinol cost me 600 baht for 1,000 tablets or about $20. The drug companies and the insurance companies are obviously in bed together and they are both thieves.

Thats useful info. In Oz I am using Nexium and if Omeprazole is easily available, I can go for that while in LOS.

Didnt make the connection before to Viagra/Kamagra use. Thinking about that, it makes sense.

If all of the counterfeit Viagra (worthless ingredients in real packaging) is indicative of all drugs available in pharmacies......buyer beware
