Has there ever been a better band than Pink Floyd? In doubt it. They sadly remind me of my surfing days in Ulu Watu, Bali. Up at six in the morning for the short motor bike ride to Ulu Watu, just before Nusa Dua. You had to be early to get in line with the aggressive Aussie surfers. Ulu Watu would have consistent but at times scary right handers. I lost count of the many leg ropes I broke. You would swim back to the beach a couple of times for a bit of Nasi Goreng and water to stop you from getting dehydrated. After a month surfing, having lost 10 kilos was considered normal. In the evening I usd to ride back om my rented bike back to the losmen in Kuta, for a massage, a joint and one beer and a little food. Then went to sleep listening to Pink Floyd or the Moody Blues ready to face face the next day of surfing. Alternatively I surfed at Jomtien Beach, close to Kuta, when the surf looked all right. I had the same Balinese GF for mote than 10 years. We thought about getting married for a long time, but I was then talked into visiting Thailand, which changed everything. I feel ashamed and sorry, leaving Wayan Yanto for not telling her that I was not coming back to her. She was a great girl, wokingg in her little shop on Kuta Beach Rod, making and selling Batik items.
