Not at all. I just don't go to bars where the ONLY redeeming feature is the price of beer.

Cost does not effect me at all. I couldnt care less if the beer is 35 baht or 250 baht. If I like the place, I'll pay it. Simple.

When I want to go hang with friends its either Cherry Bar or FLB for me, but places have a much higher entertainment ratio then anyplace on Drinking street no matter what your personal tastes, unless of course your all for that 35 baht beer.

Another mistake frostwire.

If i drink beer its beer lao,and i drink sangsom, lipo or vodka,a cider, some vodka ice bottles so none of them are 35 baht mate.

Do your homework next time you think you know what i drink

Amusingly I see a good mate of mine included in several of those pics, he has enough personal wealth to buy NP 100 times over.

There i an array of different type of people that visit the NP,and every time i go to meet mates there are new faces.A great stop off point and the oppeness is something i like too, unlike sailor bar, which is cheaper but i dont go.To be honest if i drink there for an hour or 2 and there arent many decent birds who gives a flying fuck, but i do understand the 2 weeker mongers want to live in go-go bars,up to them and i havent started one thread about that

New Plaza is a nice place to hang out and have some CHEAP drinks with friends. I arrange to meet my friends there from time to time, and we have a cheap charlie night. We can talk without loud music or the distraction of pretty girls wanting lady drinks. I wouldn't go there on my own, but if I just want to catch up with some friends, or get shitfaced for 500 baht, it can't be beat.

I will probably be visiting NP and use it as a starting point when I have a night out.

A few games of pool and a few cheap beers/waters before heading off to walking street gogos looks like a good deal imo.

Why pay 80 baht for a beer in a beer bar on walking street, when you can have two beers for the same price at NP.

And why pay 10 baht for a game of pool on walking street, when you can play for free in NP.

Girls doesnt matter to me when its the start of a party night.

very good point mate.I went down the shed bars at the bottom of soi dianna with a few mates and they were charging 60 baht for sangsom coke and the coke was flat. The birds were useless, they were hassling for drinks within a minute,i thought the place was much hotter than NP and the fucking noise from the music would do damage to the ear drums. There are far worse places to drink,i know i have been most of em lol

Agreed 100%. NP is perfect when all you want to do is have a long discussion with your mates and solve all the world's problems during the course of an evening.

There's no point in going there alone, but when you can shoot the shit with your friends over the course of a 4-5 hour chin-wagging session and walk away with 400b damage ... well, it makes for a cheap night and leaves plenty of baht in my pocket for the nights when I'm headed for pricier venues and areas elsewhere in town.

The fairly quiet music is another bonus as it makes conversation easy.

And as a side note, I've found the girls at Jane Bar to be very good at following up on drinks orders and making sure our glasses and bottles remained filled. Many beer bar girls can be lazy at customer service, but not that crew. I've only seen one I would consider barfining there, but that's not why we visit the bar in the first place!

The photo were taken end of september by the look of it - party advertised for 04th october on one of the pics - i was thier 23rd Oct to 16th Dec - and looked pretty much the same as these pics early evening and a little busier late evening.

Some of the photos were taken at the end of October and some in very early November (the sign for the party says 04 Nov). Theyweren't all taken on the same night. Four were taken in April.

Once again - if you enjoy New Plaza, by all means go there. If you don't enjoy it, give it a miss. There is no right or wrong when it comes to personal preferences in bars.

During my last couple of trips I visited the NP several times for a drink in the Jane bar. It was usually in the early evening prior to proceeding up Soi Buakhow for an hour or three in Oasis or Club Blu. I liked the contrast - cheap beer and older girls and then more classy and sexy.

I'll agree, and disagree with frosty. We went on a bar crawl, and together frosty and myself set off to find a bar with some ladies. There are a lot of bars, and a lot of ladies. I would guess most to be mid 20's to mid 30's with some younger, and older mixed in. Most bars had a lady we were interested in. The problem was, it was one lady, and we both thought the same one looked good. We did find a place where there were more than two that looked good. We sat had drank and flirted with the girls. We left with the bar crawl. Later that night, we decided to go back for the girls. When we got there, they were already taken. As was our second choices. There really wasn't much there for us after that. Had either of us been alone, we probably would have found company for the night.

If you are not as picky as us, or go with a friend with different taste in women as you, then you may enjoy it. Another downside for me is no air-con in any of the bars. There are men I could go with and have a good time though. Although, with frosty, or MM, our taste are to similar, and it just doesn't work. Especially with MM, we not only both like the young, stunner, spinner, but we also like attention from more than one lady at a time. There isn't a bar in the whole plaza that MM and I could sit in together, and not be bored to tears.

I've been there several times. I would say that I like it better than Soi 7. They don't play the bait and switch with the hello girls. Other wise, it's a lot like Soi 7 though better set up to walk with out dodging motorbikes and cars. If Soi 7 is your thing, it might be an up grade for you. If you are looking for the better looking ladies, there are better options.

Been up and down NP a number of times and my view is that it is an area where mainly expats go, for the cheap beer and to meet up,where there will be no hassle for drinks and people can enjoy themselves,so good for them, usually a party going on at one of the bars.

Plenty of bars with not many customers and I got to say probably the worst selection of girls I've seen in Pattaya, I've yet to see a single girl I would BF, and I ain't that fussy.

You realy seem to be missing what i said.It is not my watering hole,i go the RH more in a month.I am stating that everybody has different views and if u had a bar in NP u would find it insulting,so u cant make that call if i hate wanking st,unless u call some of the np haters as insulting.I think i have a viewpoint on here and find it hilarious that i am being counted for having my 10 penny worth regarding Np.

This is the same as Pattayalive its a big wind up and keeps us sad fuckers happy for a few minutes and keeps the 6 week millionaires happy with their distant memories

Hope this is sinking in now,i love to have a dig back at the haters, and i dont go to NP that often and most of my posts are a windup

I just wonder why, out of all the topics on the board, you are the most active on this one subject?

You are absolutely missing what I said. I said that you dominate any thread about NP. I didn't say anything about NP. I've never been there for more than a quick drink with a friend, and I don't have any opinion about it.

But, you seem to be sticking up for it, even proselytizing the place, for no reason other than you somehow got your ass out of joint ages ago about some comments on another board.

Here you go again...look at your posts compared to others in this very thread.

You are so predictable.

Maybe you should ask your "mates" what this is about.

Those snaps were taken prior to the 4th of November 2010, before the advent of the high season. Take some more now of the same bars at the same angles at 11 pm on any night of your choice before the end of January and display them on this forum.

Pussy is like oxygen: When you can have it any time you want, you don't think about it all that much. (Really.) When you can't get it, you think about nothing else.

I can get laid anytime I want, so sometimes it's nice to just chill with a few of my homies, solving the problems of the world as Damon says.

Canada just lost to Russia in the world ice hockey juniors B)

Maybe it's just me, but if my country were in a two-country annual tournament in a sport we invented, with a country a third our size that we used to own, I would expect to win an away series more often than just once in a generation.

England, Australia -- oh, are there other countries involved in the Ashes that I've left out?

I understand cricket was invented in England. ("Cricket can definitely be traced back to Tudor times in early 16th-century England," says Wikipedia).

According to the Times of India, last year's victory breaks a 24-year away drought in the Ashes for England.

Population of England (2008): 51,446,000

Population of Australia (2006 census): 19,800,000

LDK = Lesson Delivered, Kids! :(

Nope... but it isn't played every year, for one. (That is what annual means)

Nor is population synonymous with 'size'... otherwise some fool would claim England was bigger than Australia..... :(

When you say one country is bigger than another, you generally refer to the population, not the area. Clue: It depends on the context. What does area have to do with having a sufficient pool of talent to draw a decent team? Fuck all. What does population have to do with it? Everything.

Okay, it's not an annual contest. That's one. Yes, it is possible to get two or more things wrong in a single sentence. I didn't, unless you don't accept -- naw, not gonna go there.

Your nitpicking has not changed the truth of my argument: With a longer tradition in cricket, a head start in development and a much larger population to draw from, England has beaten Australia in the Ashes on an Australian pitch only once in 24 years. This is a stellar accomplishment?

No I don't, when I say size, I define land area, what do you mean by you?

If I wanted to define a country as bigger in population, I would say, population.

When I buy shoes, and ask for a bigger size, it does not mean I want 3 of them!

As to Ashes series, out of 66. England have won 30, Oz 31, of 33 played in Australia, they have won 14, Oz 17, those played in England (33) England has won 16, Oz 14. Quite even and perhaps why it is regarded with such esteem. We don't win too often in England these days, we are a nation in decline, so we like to revel in the victory. If you knew Australians, and their attitude to sports, you might understand that it is no small feat to defeat them.

They certainly over-shadowed Canada in the 2008 olympics, and Great Britain beat them there too.

Nitpicking or not, England won the Ashes in great style. Oz will come back stronger.
