translation service in Pattaya?

Recommended Posts

I need to write a letter of introduction (short) and have it translated into Thai. Would someone please make a recommendation as to where I can have it done in Pattaya?

Are you suggesting an online translation service?

I'd like a storefront service for a couple of reasons

Again does anyone have a translation service they can recommend, please?

Edit: few changes

The last time I needed something translated in Pattaya, I went to one of the internet cafes. The lady was really nice, wouldn't even take any money for it. Of course, it was just an address. My suggestion would be to find some professional Thai person who can read and write good English.

Of course your best bet would be a professional translation service. If you decide to go that route, drop me a PM. I have good contacts in that industry.

2 days and counting...

I would hand it in to my hotel manager on my way out in the morning and he will of translated it for you by the time you come back in the afternoon

I have done this many times when I have stayed at Bella villa hotel

Every other shop house offers translation services, all the buildings excluding WS are split 50/50 between translation and massage services.

Most professional are likely the Visa agencies.

EG Key Visa

or this outfitoffer to do it via email/fax,.

It is just Google translate with a different front end , handy list of pairings.

I have used Google for writing to a TG and use a few rules to avoid oddball results:

One sentence per line and one subject per sentence. Short sentences without compound concepts, e.g.

The weather here is nice today.

I went to the movies today.

Rather than even though the weather was nice today I chose to go to the movies.

No English slang as the literal translation often isn't close to what you meant.

No romancized Thai words like Tilac since you can just write darling, sweetheart etc.

Try to avoid words with dual meanings like "honey" vs. "darling" as you can bet you'll get honey the condiment not the compliment.

No contractions

No th nd rd for ordinal numbers , e.g July 3 not the 3rd of July

I send the English and then below copy and paste the Thai.

I'll run the Thai version back to see what comes out in English. If it's quite close great. If not itnis fairly obvious where the problem lies. Then I simplify more.

If you take a trip up Central Pattaya Road towards Carrefour and make a left on the road at the end of the Carrefour entrance you will only have to travel to the sharp bend where on the left you will see a sign for translations.
