Baht buses to Jomtien

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how late the baht busses run from Pattaya (2nd rd & south pattaya rd) to Jomtien. I know they run regularly during the daytime, but I was wondering if that service continued in the evening (and how late). That is the 10 B regular service. Or would I need to "rent them" as a taxi, and what the rate would be. I am just asking as I am considering a Jomtien condo rental for a month and wonder how it wold impact andy late night drinking & BFs. While I think that I will rent the condo in any case, if I have to get a taxi every time I need to return, I may have to more strategicly plan the trips and trips to/from Pattaya. I'd prefer to avoid the motorbike taxis too.

Thanks in advance for any advice from experienced BMs,

Zeus

It is some time since for me, but I found getting a cheap baht bus that direction late at night very difficult. You had to sit there on the bus at the 2nd/Tai junction as they packed them in, certainly this went on after 2am. Trying to flag one down was hit and miss, many would sail by, an empty one would want to haggle over taxi price. In high season it seemed impossible.

The baht buses from outside the school (near the traffic lights) run all night and 10 baht is the normal fee to Jomtien. There is no shortage of girls who will go to Jomtien on a baht bus for short time.

Instead of waiting at the intersection for a BB to fill,it's better to walk a block toward Jomtien along the school wall to the 1st small soi (2 mins) and in front of the eyeglass shop, hop on there. Many drive by with only a few or no passengers because they can usually get a good load from that point and don't have to wait in that line of 6 or so BBs for their turn.

I am all in favor of the 10 baht ride and use it all the time.

Best deal around.

To put things in perspective, however, I could pay 20 baht (for two) to go to Jomtien after waiting 10 minutes for a baht but to completely fill up.

A ride that will take me close or somewhat close to my destination and walk the rest of the way.

I could also pay 100 baht to have a ride for just me and my honey for the night.

Instant departure and right to my door.

If I spend 2500 baht partying and 2500 baht for BF/LT the extra 80 baht constitute 1.6% of the nights expenditure.

Maybe walking to Jomtien would be an option, save 20 baht.

Another consideration. Many girls do not like to travel to Jomten. Especially for short time.

in my 11 year history only 1 ( one ) girl moaned about it....

Thanx for the LDOPs if you try to get a bahtbus near the WS they will ask 150-200 baht to the very nearest point to Jomtien...

So what would you say is the best option to return late to Jomtien? I suspect you do it a lot.

Thanks to all for their input........

When I lived in View Talay 1 Jomtien (now over 2 1/2 years ago), I would sometimes hire a baht bus as a taxi, (normally paid 100 baht never paid more than 120 baht), or would wait by the 7-11, roughly opposite Soi Diamond, to try to get a 10 baht ride, I occassionally had a longer wait but most times only had to wait about 5 mins.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

If you are paying that much you are ruining it for everyone else.
