Uk-Bangkok....the Most And Least You've Ever Paid.......

Recommended Posts

Guy who I was talking to yesterday was amazed at the most I'd ever paid to Los was actually 16 years ago......

Lowest I ever paid was 319 pounds on Tarom in 1994 via Bucharest.

Most I ever paid was 540 pounds in summer of 1995 on Thai International.

I did for about 7 years have access to stand by tickets on BA/Qantas but unfair to include them....

Amazingly have still not come close to the 540 since....

I think most I paid was about £520 with Eva Air when they first started up,although it was in the Premium class.Least was £298 a few years ago with Qatar.

Been spoilt over the years since Middle East airlines entered the picture, now anything under £500 is good value the way the taxes keep going up.

Yes I paid just 480 pounds in Evergreen Deluxe now Elite way back in February 1994....

Those were the days out of Gatwick and stopped outbound in Vienna on Eva..

I paid CAD $10,300 in April and CAD $10,600 (roughly £6,500) in September due to the CAD losing a bit against the US (which is the base currency most airlines use) . Not from the UK but Toronto. Them's the breaks for refundable first class tickets but it is sure a nice way to travel.

I admire you for travelling first Rick believe me, but and I say this in a polite way that money must be meaningless to you and the fare is neither here of there ??

No one but no one shells out 6500 Sterling if money is an issue ??

Whats biz 2500 ??

Economy 800 ??

I have to be absolute honest and even if money was no issue for myself I would not go above premium economy for a seat ??

The most i have paid is around £650 about 5 or 6 years ago with Emirates.

The least i have paid is around £350 3 or 4 years ago and that was with Etihad.

Both were in economy and i have to say that at the time i enjoyed the flight on the new fleet of planes that Etihad owned.

We did fly with Etihad last year and we were less than impressed with them!!!

I think a lot of passengers are pissed off with Etihad since they reconfigured their triple 7's in line with Emirates at 10 across in economy...

It was the serving of chocolate popcorn in a bag for breakfast that did it for us!!!

Off topic almost - just paid 689 euros for June '12 for Barcelona-BKK-BCN Swiss going Austrian coming back thus avoiding French strikers be they rail or air. Spanish probably too worried about their jobs (I hope). Almost half was tax - how do they do it?

Main thing is - I have a ticket ! 1st visit in 2 years.

Out of UK departures still look the best deal when observing from outside...

I have never flown economy since after about 1999, but coach must vary from around $900 to $2,000 in dollars round trip and business depends but from $5,700 to $9,000. The lower have more restrictions admittedly they are not much, ususally a cancel fee of $200 and of course Cathay will limit the seats at the non full-fare prices. They are also adding premium economy in 2012, no idea that cost as I wouldn't fly in that class either.

First class is actually around $14,000 but the fare I fly is refundable but a lower price with a $200 cancel fee. A small price to pay if I cancel to save $4,000 on the fare.

Most i paid was £585 on Thai and the least £295 on Turkish airlines a couple of years ago - I reckon it was a mistake but they honoured it!!

Taxes these days must be close to 300 quid ??

Still believe that fares are cheaper in real terms than what they were in economy 20 years ago ??

Well airfares to the far East were beyond most people over 20 years ago perhaps.

The UK went through a spell of property inflation and general improvements in personal wealth..... or was it access to debt.

Hard to imagine that airfares have got cheaper of late unless one applies accountancy tricks or the confusing caveat 'in real terms'

Taxes have gone from low levels to £300.

Weren't oil prices around $20/barrel if one ignores the 1991 spike? Currently $95.

Cheapest was £435 from Brum with Emirates June 2006. Most expensive was last november from Brum again with Emirates but this time it was £615 !! Dont ya just love the uk taxes, the tax is more than the cost of the flight in most cases. Due for another increase this years too. :angry2

I think I have paid around £750 one Christmas for Bristol - Amsterdam- Bangkok on KLM then Air China

also,

During school holiday time, July/August, I've paid around £850 for Thai Air direct flights but this includes a return trip to Udon Thani

The least, well, I recollect a £435 on EVA about 6 years ago

Still good deals out there if you are flexible on dates and airlines. I'd never do more than about 15/16rs travel so many non direct routes are out for me. The direct flights with Thai suit the best, although I accept they are using ageing planes but with Airmiles and internal freebies, they rank my number 1 choice. that may change

Friend travelled couple days ago on the retrofitted Thai 747's and said they were excellent with the new AVOD systems in place...

They are rostering A380's on to the route this year as well...
