The Olympics, London 2012 - A time to be proud

Recommended Posts

I think they should be embarrassed about opening ceremony as I thought it was very boring just my honest opinion!!!!!

I nominate this post for the "bah humbug" gold medal. A totally unnecessary pissing on someone's parade.

Why is it a "bah humbug" and totally unnecessary pissing on someone's parade by me voicing my opinion? I think London should be proud to host the 2012 Olympics!!!!! I just did not like the opening

Good to see Cavendish moaning because the Aussie's didn't help him to win. How daft is that? :clueless

"It seems like most teams are happy not to win as long as we don't win," Cavendish said. “It's the story of our lives in cycling. It shows what a strong nation we are. We've got to take the positives from that and take it as a compliment."

"No-one wants to help us. The Australians sit there. They always just ride negatively - they're happy to see us lose. It's bitterly disappointing. There's 70 guys in our group at the finish, I don't understand why there's (only) three guys riding. It doesn't make sense.”

The Telegraph also observed ...

"Cavendish was hugely disappointed and blamed the rest of a group of around 70 riders for failing to help chase down Viokourov, a controversial winner after he served a two-year ban following a failed drugs test."

Surely he can't be any more controversial than GB's own David Millar?

The Germans and others did not help the peloton much and all the hard work fell to the British and they could never reel in the lead pack. Cavendish goes to Belgium for a race tomorrow after doing 150 miles today. What a stud!!!

I learned a bit today about the greater London area. I have heard of Surrey, of course but did not know its exact location before today nor how beautiful the countryside is.

There were tens of thousands of people along the course. Quite an impressive sight.

Tom.

when you have both the GB and aussies in a contest, both supporters care only that their team finishes in front, aussies dont care who wins if they can't, as long as they finish infront of the poms.

since the end of the last games in china, one of the main talking point in the press in oz, is that we get more medals than GB aka poms

I'm not a fan of either but unfortunately they are two things we are known for throughout the world.

Along with our literature, our two greatest exports.

Sam.

what about the opening, including the mighty hammers theme song.

Surely you realize that you don't always have to give your opinion? That negative opinions are sometimes better kept to themselves? This Olympics is obviously the only time Brits will host them in their lifetime. They are proud and enjoying talking about it, and some other nationalities are joining in the good feeling. Then you say it's boring. I would say my comment of your post was accurate.

I must not understand English !!

I can't argue with that, as I was talking about the "boring" comment. I didn't criticize your proud comment. Let's leave it there mate, and let others talk about how much they are enjoying the Olympics. I'm starting to think you don't like me voicing my opinion!!!

Even the seeing the practicalities of the peloton and the need for an even sharing of effort...... and noting how the leading pack each took a turn to maintain their advantage......It's silly of Cavendish to blame others, though we all look for excuses when we're at fault ....everyone sees through it and you 'lose' twice.

I never made excuses in my squash matches ..........however much the other player was a cheating, phucking bastard and the umpire biased....... grin and bear it and..... never lose twice!

Maybe if "Fornicater" came from the real Colchester, he would be able to appreciate and understand things a bit more!.......but then again, that would make him an "Essex Boy" !

Have a dig in this thread as well. You just can't help yourself can you? And you wonder why I made my comment in the other thread? What a tool.

Rather than using insulting words again,

could you please explain to me how England could win any medals in these games?

England is not in the list of 200+ participant countries... ;)

You know what you meant, in which case you're still a tool. If you genuinely didn't and were trying to indicate their mistake then I apologise but I doubt very much that's what you initially meant. I'll be watching you closely for any more anti British comments. :whistling:

I can help you: my last comment about Britain was:

Sorry for your cycling team. They made big work in the race and deserved a better result. :(

Not sure it was anti-British or anti-English though... ;)

Now let's back to Sport. Ok?

Olympic Cycling - French Team Quarters Raided

By Karolos Grohmann and Paul Casciato

LONDON, July 29 | Sun Jul 29, 2012 11:52am BST

(Reuters) - Olympic organisers scrambled on Sunday to quell a growing scandal over reported illegal substances being found in the French Cycling Team's training accommodation in the Olympic Athletes' Village.

The Metropolitan Police have raided their accommodation and found 3 substances which have apparently been banned in France since the 1950's. The soap, deodorant and toothpaste have all been taken away for further examination.
