I was thrown a bit when I had a quick check to see how many English managers there were in The Premiership. It doesn't bode well for finding a successor to Hodgson. :ninja:

Ah :sorry ; missed the nuance of English rather than British  :D

Hi,

I'm sure no one would object to a Scottish manager for England ?

A major part of the problem vis-a-vis England's poor showing in international competition (apart from poor player attitude) is down to the lack of English managers employed at Premier League level, in cahoots with foreign owners. Most of these managers have no desire whatsoever for their players to compete at International level, and often positively intimidate players in their control to drop out at every opportunity. :angry2 ( Sadly the manager of my team; Sir Misery himself, is one of the worst offenders :hairout and major kudos to Rooney,Beckham & Yorke for Trinidad, in defying him on occasions :thumbup ). Compare this attitude to say the Bundesleague; Spanish and Italian leagues where both Owners and Managers are predominantly from their respective countries and tend to support the National sides wholeheartedly, and success is there for all to see. :bow I have no problems with a non- English or even non-British manager; The ones employed previously were proven successes prior to employment, suggesting that the manager is not the problem! (Keegan excepted of course :o ) As ever with football talk IMHO of course. :soapbox: :chogdee2

My prediction looking pretty good with thirteen games to go. :thumbup

Would agree now, I fancied City or Chelsea their squads are better but I guess motivating guys earning 200k a week is a challenge, got to admire Fergie he has the worst squad IMHO but looks like he will do it... Gooners wont be 4th , Spurs will be

Well done,

Well done,

Money may well buy you a few trophies but sustaining success is a completely different thing all together. City will buy more expensive players in the summer thinking that will be the answer but it won't be. Mancini won't be there come the start of next season, he'll be gone when they win nothing this season.

It appears to have been the answer (so far) for Man Utd this season (RvP). Many would argue that it's a better answer than binning the manager. It would be nice to see Utd to beat the 95 points that Chelsea managed when winning the Premiership a few years back - it may just show how resilient the current team is (not unlike Forest in their glory days). (That's the kiss of death for them - QPR will probably stuff them at the weekend)

Hi,

Oh yeah, right.

With one eye on next Sunday's Capital One Cup final against Bradford City, Michael Laudrup made seven changes from his side that humbled Queen's Park Rangers 4-1.

Top scorer Michu was left on the bench, along with regular starters Ashley Williams, Angel Rangel, Routledge and Nathan Dyer.

Not so sure they will win the FA cup in time they will become the best team in the League if the keep buying the bet players in the World, it takes time for players to bed in and get settled in Mancini goes and Mourinho comes in City will be dominant, I have a lot of time for Fergie how he tries to blend UK players Smalling, Jones,Cleverly sure he buys at the top with RVP and Rooney but in retaining Giggs and stuff its terrific management, but that way its going the best players in the final reckoning will be the best teams....

I never saw Man U as favorites at the start , be interesting to know if they were, Man Utd are still a football club City and Chelsea are not ..

Hi,

I think the owners of football clubs have always been scumbags, with some exceptions of course. Now they are International rather than local ones. That's the only difference.

Nowhere is this more applicable than in dealing with the wholesale meat trade. Manchester United’s Martin Edwards has family money amassed by his father Louis, who was a butcher. Bob Lord, the infamous former Chairman of Burnley FC, also amassed huge wealth via wholesale meat dealing. As a sector, it attracts villains, and always has: Michael (my original tutor in such matters from three decades ago) was an East End cockney who once quite seriously offered the services of people even he called “unpredictable” to deal with a particularly obnoxious crook in the advertising business who was giving me a hard time. When I declined, but asked what they might do to my bête-noir, he replied, “Wull, all depends what kinduv day they’ve ‘ad, dunnit?” He claimed the entire project would cost me “no more than a monkey”. It sounded like remarkably good value to me.

Are you suggesting some association with the fraternity of the sport of kings?

Hi,

A good weekend for Manchester and it looks like the 3 London clubs are fighting over the other 2 Champions League places. Well done to Swansea for winning the league cup and to Bradford for getting to the final.

He's talking shite again which he likes to do on a weekly basis in this thread. Just ignore him, in his world Liverpool are still in the running for the title.

Hi,

After Liverpools defeat last night, I think we can safely award the title to Man Utd.

Hi,

Spurs have entertained us this season. They deserve to make the Champions League. Will they be able to hold on to Bale ?

Long term no ! ; But you can guarantee that they will get a hugely inflated transfer fee for him though. I think one of the 2 Spanish sides may be the eventual destination. However my powers of foresight on future transfer activity have proven to be worse than useless in the past! Edited by Fatboyfat

If he goes to United then that will be the case. He's got to be worth at least twenty million.
