Just got an email from the Nana saying my reservations is confirmed. Wondering if it is that easy didnt make any payment and they didnt ask for any. Do I just pay when I check in ? If that is the case what a great policy.

Hi,

I use to stop 1 or 2 nights in BKK before going Pattaya.

Last time was end of September and at NANA they asked me to pay my night when I arrive !

They told me that now you have to pay before but only if you stay for only 1 night...

Doolish, That is interesting.  I have stayed at the nana at least ten times, and I never was asked to profer up the room cost at check-in.  May be that is a policy that has been taken since I was last there in April.

One thing that  was funny on my last visit there.  I paid my bill the last night about 6 hours prior to leaving for the airport to catch the Northwest 6 0'clock for Naarita.

So, when I am leaving the hotel about 3:45 to get a taxi for the airport, I breeze by the desk with my bags and just before I hit the doors the bellboys corral me and

tell me I "no pay bill."  I had to stop and dig out my receipt and there was no problem, but those ole boys watch that door like guard dogs-they don't miss a trick.

(no pun intended)  Regards, Jimmy

James I wasn't asked in September either so I guess we must have honest faces  ;)

I just stayed at the Nana last week and will make it my last time.  I got stuck in a room that was booked as a Superior.  It was a large room but very rundown.  One of the first comments from fellow boardie Jimmybb was "I saw my first Nana cockroach."  This was five minutes after checkin.  Another fellow boardie Yesitisdakidd was about to checkin and gave the guy a bag of chocolates behind the counter and was told that his room was not quite ready.  The guy was waiting for another guest to leave so he could give him the room which according to Yesitisdakidd was a very nice room.

As far as payment in advance if paying by credit card there is no advance payment required.  But if paying by cash I think this is when they ask for payment up front.  Booking was easy just email them and you are set.  No problems there.  The drawbacks are you never what kind of room you will get.  I would gladly pay a few more bucks to get a decent room not the dump I was given.  As far as the Bangkok experience you can get this across the street at the Dynasty which offers smaller rooms but far cleaner.

I agree, across the road is the Dynasty which I highly recommend. I read another board member who said it was better to get a Dynasty room at the back and sure enough he was right. Clean room and free transportation to Pattaya if you stay 3 nights at the Dynasty Resort.

I have also read read good things here about the Dynasty breakfast. I went across the road to the Nana and had a wonderful breakfast last time in Bangkok. I'll give the Dynasty breakfast a go next time if I'm up in time, which is doubtful.

And NP is only a stumble away.

Bacon ,

Couldn't agree with you more . One of your compatriots

was taking the piss out of me on my last trip as I'd stayed in soi4 5/6 times and had never stayed there . As

it was my birthday when I arrived .I thought fuck it I'll book in and see for myself.

I got the 1200 bt room (give or take a couple of baht)Deluxe room. LOL. The room was well worn ,Towels well old , The porter after trying to massage me was unhappy with the 20 bt tip , reception weren't that happy ,The tea bar was empty , After 4 or was it 6 (hic!!) they only sold soft drinks I had to send a freelancer to get my jd from my room .

2nights and I moved further down the soi to my usual the Nana thai at 800 bt.

I would rather stay in a Swan short time room than that place  again.

"well overpriced And well overated"

IMHO

Sparkey
