Buying raw food then needing a cook

Recommended Posts

When I was in Klong Toey market in Bangkok recently I saw stacks of unprepared food I would have loved to buy,but had no available cooking facilities in the hotels I was staying at,so didn't make any purchases.

Next time I deffo want to try some of these foods.....I saw some amazing looking mushrooms, chopped frogs and pigs snouts.Would make an interesting meal. The mushrooms in particular looked wonderful and the customers buying them took their selection process very seriously. I'll find some photos and add them later!

If I buy these items, would streetvendors fry them for me in their woks for a few baht? I've never asked before, but I assume it shouldn't be a problem. Anyone bought raw food and had it cooked on a Soi?And if so,what's a decent price to offer? 50 baht?

Thanks.

In that case book yourself into a place in Bangkok with cooking facilities.

Make sure it is a reasonably sized place if you like mush-room!

One time on TV I saw a show about bizarre Thai foods. The host of the show was up in Issan at a food market, shopping for food. He picket out a rat, wrapped in plastic. That and some other stuff. Then, he found a vendor to cook it all up for him. I suppose that's not uncommon.
