Tokens at 7-11

Every time I buy something at a 7-11,I get a small paper token the size of a postage stamp with my change,sometimes am given half a dozen of these at once. Over a month trip,and about three visits a day,that's a lot of tokens. I leave them in my hotel room,with all the accumulated coinage,for the maid as they might be valuable to somebody? Are they actually worth leaving though,or is it insulting to the cleaner to be given a bundle of these mystery tokens? Of course I leave money too,but what about these strange micro vouchers,anybody know why they exist?

I think they are like a savings/discount coupon for your next purchase. If you collect enough of them you can get a few bahts worth for free or discounted. The maids will be very happy with them and good on ya for leaving them for the maid and not throwing them awway

Giving them to the maid? You could have exchanged them for a Hello Kitty lunch box!

 

Seriously, they are worth 1 or 3 Bahts (silver and gold respectively) and can be exchanged for promotional gifts or goods. They are really aimed at the kids - hence the cartoon themes - and getting them into the 7-11 habit.

Reminds me of "green stamps" here way back in the day. You pasted them in books, and when the books were full you could redeem them for stuff.

Green shield stamps.....

Yeah the TGF tells me to save them but when I get sick of seeing them lying around I chuck them out.

I recall in Hong-Kong an old lady used to scrounge them off you as you came out of the store.... surprised that doesn't happen here.

Good ol' S & H Green Stamps. Long forgotten by many.

I think seven have stopped dishing out the stamps since mid Nov & you have until mid Dec to redeem any you still have.

If you use seven on a regular basis the stamps quickly accumulate.

 

I picked up the deckchair, a backpack and a few of the cool lunch bags.

I bought some milk, break and stepsils a few days ago and I got 68 baht credit for the 68 stamps I had with me.
