has anyone took a taxi from patts to kanchanaburi ,and what sort of money did they pay. would 5000 bhat be approx price

I would think that would be plenty.

 

Alternatively, there is a small 10 seater van that runs every 30 minutes from outside the temple on Pattaya Tai, that takes you to Monument for 100 baht and from there you can take another van to Kanchanaburi, not sure on that cost but i know its cheap, quick and comfortable. Had a mate go to Hua Hin this way for 380 baht each way

I recall that the rate to Bangkok was 2000 bht and think that 3000 would do. Suggest that you email Mr T and ask. There are dozens of mini vans going each day to the Bridge over the River Kwai trips. Any travel agent will update you on these.

I used the regular buses. Rung Ruen to the Southern terminal , plenty from there. I believe there are some buses from Moe Chit, but the one I took went all around the houses skirting Bangkok!
