Those chinese lanterns are a total health and safety hazard and should be banned immediately , one of them landed on my neighbor's car last festival and burnt it to a fucking crisp.....!

I miss the seats along beach road. It's OK to walk down but nowhere to sit!! Was that done so the girls can not sit either.

Yes, a very shitty change. It was a very pleasant place to fritter away an hour.

You can see the logic though...

You don't want anyone sitting there on a free seat, under some natural shade, talking to a freelancer and necking a 7/11 breezer. (Sigh.)

You need 'em sitting in a dirty deckchair, under a stinky umbrella, shoulder to shoulder with all the other passengers paying for the stripey flight to nowhere. :sosad

edit: and fuck the poor everyday thai who may have just wanted to sit at their own beach and wile away a few moments after work...

It looks like a sidewalk curb at the edges. Unless they add a slope, that will stop small bikes dead and end up in a head over heels. :yikes:

Not sure what you mean? The ramp will go the full width of the road when it's finished.

You might be looking at it wrong. The image shows the right lane competed with vehicles going over it, while working on the center lane. I've ridden over one on a motorbike already and it is quite gentle. But large enough that you will get airborne if you go too fast.

Loy Krathong they were officially "banned", at least the papers said they were. However, no one bothered to read that.

I saw one the other day (went over it on the bike) and my first thought was it looked like a nice path for them to wheel crates of beer across Beach rd to the deck chair businesses and for loading onto boats!

Yesterday they finished the ramp on the none beach side (just near soi 2}.

It is much longer than the one on the beach side.

This morning, they have a jackhammer digging up the 'short' beach side ramp... :llaugh

Boss: Hmm.. pass me those plans..

Boss to workers: You fuckwits!

Too funny!

Motorists and Business Operators complain about new Pattaya Beach Speed Humps
Posted on December 20, 2013 at 3:09 am
In the early hours of Thursday a 26 year old man suffered minor facial injuries after he was thrown 20 meters off of his motorbike onto the road after he failed to see newly constructed road humps on Pattaya Beach Road.
The injured man along with other concerned residents and business operators believe the new humps will cause a serious accident which could potentially involve foreign tourists.
The humps are not marked in any way, as yet, and those who are unfamiliar with their recent installation could be affected, especially motorbike drivers such as Khun Sanit who came off his bike on Thursday after admitting driving at a high rate of speed along the Beach Road as he wa slate picking up his girlfriend from work.

Just confirms again that the Pattaya 'BAD' Planning Department is totally incompetent. The brain dead cretins have not got a clue.

It started off as a speed retarder /speed hump /sleeping policeman......and has now degenerated into a gentle incline so what was the point?

No signs, warning or paint markings and now with the Evil Knievel stunt.

A type of reverse engineering......dig a hole....wait for someone to fall in...then put a barrier around it....TIT

I recall the pedestrian crossing put in a while back. They were put in place to "help" pedestrians cross Beach and Second roads. Since they were nowhere near roads with cross traffic they were death traps just waiting to catch someone. Cars and especially motorcycles would ignore the red lights. For those foolish enough to stop, I was one, the traffic behind you would almost rear-end you as they would try swerving to pass you. Any traffic next to them made for a very interesting event. Lucky they are now inactivated ….

Have a look at Soi Bongkot now. Looks like a bomb crater. Put new drains in but have left all the rubble. No one has slowed down. Sand all over the road.

I walked past the soi 2 speed humps tonight... there were 2 stands with yellow warning lights... leaning against a barrier with other tools, not turned on... :clueless

The TGF insists these huge speed humps have something underneath them, She said maybe pipes to take waste water to the beach from the other side.

I said there were no pipes or anything there when I rode down Beach Rd, prior to the humps....'that is why it is so high', she told me.

Anybody been close enough to see this, should be obvious if they are not completed?

I saw the soi 2 one before they started the long ramp on the none beach side The short ramp was just that, a ramp, there was no pipes on the unstarted side.

Edit: the digging was trenches in the road, about 6-8 inches deep, where they layed mesh (to hold the concrete work to the road top I guess)

See my earlier photo of the construction and you will see that there are no pipes going across the road.

So what is that square access hole about?

It would seem strange to deliberately put a speed bump over existing manholes?

Look a bit closer at the picture and you can see the taxi come down the speed bump, the hole in the road is a drainage hole cover that is not part of the speed bump. Its a bit further along the road.
