what are you missing

You can find most things in the Pattaya area, for those you can't adapt, do without.

Most of the time it is hardware items, or gadgets, where I just can;t be bothered going round the shops to find them, and order on-line.

Decent wine at reasonable prices.

I agree with Jacko, lots of falang comforts available around Patts if you are willing to pay the price, e.g. Heinz Beans about £2 for a can and Cream of Tomato Soup about £3.

I still go back to the UK once a year so make the most of the opportunity to enjoy the things that I choose to do without here.

Nothing anymore.....The last pieces of the hard to find in Thailand 'jigsaw' fell into place when I found ginger preserve at Friendship....... Yorkshire gold tea at Siambury's........ And English tv on my android.

The evocative smells of an English Autumn and a proper sea-weed sea ......(as against a sea-piss), sea I've learned to live without.

I've never been able to find a source for triple antibiotic ointment in Thailand. In a tropical climate it's a must have for treating cuts and abrasions to prevent infection and speed healing.

Betadine has always worked for me, and I have had some pretty bad cuts and abrasions from a motorbike accident and from stupid accidents stumbling around in sandals in Thai streets. Chemists give it out readily.

Betadine is an antiseptic, not an antibiotic. It'll kill germs, but an antibiotic will help a wound heal faster. The ointment also helps to keep the wound "moist" as it heals, which is great when the wound is in the area of a joint.

One the ingredients in the triple antibiotic is bacitracin, which can be bought in Thailand. Problem is I don't find it nearly as effective as a triple antibiotic.
