United has been heavily promoting their new non-stop flight from LAX to Singapore on the Boeing 787.

I usually look to Singapore Air, but UALs price is lower.

Anyone tried this new service?

No, but I would be very hesitant about any economy class seat on UAL.

why is there no nonstop between the US and Thailand?

Well LA to Bangkok comes up as over 8000 miles, the max range of an A380 as 9000, maybe that is just not enough of a margin.

A Dreamliner is a bit less range so even closer.

You are going to get the wind against you one way too!.

Thai used to do it, mustn't be viable. I can do 11 hours but much more would 'do me 'ed in'......

There was a non-stop LAX-BKK until a few years ago. I believe it had a 4-5 run before being discontinued. It was awesome for those of us traveling from Southern California. I cannot remember what aircraft is was.

I flew Thai Airlines a few times, LAX to BKK, but the plane was always half empty, so I thought it was a money thing, and they shut down the route. I got bumped up to first class a couple of times, because nobody was there. Then they raised they're prices to 6k for business class, and I started flying with Cathay Pacific, great food and service, still use them !! HA! HA! HA!
