Condo With A Good Sized Pool Wanted For 2 Months
pauly77 replied to sinbinjack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
View Talay 6 has a massive pool, must be olympic sized-not that far from Soi Bukaow,on Second Road. -
Fraid so,I think they used to have BBC World but that is now scrambled. However, there is a tv in bar area which has all sports cable channels for English footy etc. Mind you Sabai Inn in Soi 2 now has a massive 52" Sony Bravia tv-brilliant for watching the match.

Just been back a couple of weeks, flying ex Man with Etihad fro £425,but I'm very tempted to return end of June at the Emirates price, prob their cheapest ever prices-interesting to see if Etihad try to beat them, but after recent trips with them and Qatar, both very good,I fancy a change as haven't flown with Emirates for years(couldn't afford it!).

Stayed there for 8 nights last month-excellent quality accommodation, pretty much as in pics on website-rooms very spacious, swimming pool on roof with nice view. There is some continuing building work going on at the rear with the enormous Holiday Inn next door, but it is nothing heavy and I didn't find it a problem. Only negative was the tv had no English channels to watch, but that's about it. I would stay there again next time I go. Promo on at the moment, stay 7 nights,8th free-good value for the quality. Also has the prettiest bunch of reception girls in Pattaya.

Summer Spring in Soi 1,excellent value new hotel with rooftop swimming pool, promo on now stay 7 nights, get 8th free, works out about 1050 a night. -
Don't think much of any of those prices for low season, would swerve all of them, 1500 for Flipper Lodge-WTF!

discovery beach on beach road
pauly77 replied to cambodia's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Went past there a lot the last few weeks-it has a good beachfront location, but a lot of the rooms overlook the rear of Soi 6,so hardly salubrious, didn't look very busy from what I could see. -
I have just got back from Pattaya, my mate had a refurbished room on the 5th floor, big improvement on the previous compact rooms. Floor is a nice combination of wood and tiles, beds are twins pushed together, nice bathroom with shower compartment, very big balcony with lovely seaview,in room safe.I believe he paid 1300. Great location and nice pool, worth considering now. I took some room pics, will try to post them when I sort out all the pics I took.

Just got back today from Pattaya, spent the first eight days at Summer Spring as they have promotion stay 7 nights 8th free, worked out about 1130 a night instead of 1290 for room at rear of hotel, which actually overlooked ongoing construction of massive Holiday Inn next door. However, not major noise and when work stopped it was very quiet at night. Rooms were spacious and well appointed, liked the carpeted hallways, no click clacking of high heels on tiles. Nice swimming pool on roof, only minus was the crap tv channels, no BBC world news, Fox or CNN so never watched the tv. I used to stay Sabai Inn, but Summer Spring is better value now.Absolutley no problem with bringing back girls or LB's if that's your thing. If you like that end of Pattaya, would recommend it,room service meals aren't bad either.
-
For sure it caters for large Asian tour groups, always loads of coaches parked outside, not really a place for us guys, better choices elsewhere.
-
Worth noting that Summer Spring now has promotion, stay 7 nights, 8th night free. Because of that, I've now extended my stay to 7 nights to take advantage, does bring the price down to a perfectly reasonable rate for the quality of the hotel. What with the pound strenghthening up as well, now loooking forward even more to getting there in a couple of weeks.

Usually go to Berts for evening meal, good quality,3 course Sunday Roast excellent. Will be back there again next month-rooms look fine, not a location I would stay, but if you like the location, then it looks good.

interactive map through the streets of pattayatalk
pauly77 replied to abinder's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Wow-that photoguide 360 revolving pics is the next best thing to being there-really fun to explore those places we know so well. I was interested to see how the new building that was going up in Soi 3 in front of BJ Lodge would look as regards blocking the view/sun as I usually stay there. Now that I've seen how tall and close it is I won't be staying there again as it completely blocks everything out-a pity as I liked the BJ,would still go there for breakfast. -
guest house rates now 1000 and more
pauly77 replied to pauly77's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Yes it was the Armaggedon that I was referring to-nice looking rooms but unless they are in the process of adding a roof top swimming pool, can't see how those rates can be justified. I note the comment about it being full now,but presumably that is with people paying the old rates, can't see anyone paying the new high rates,1200 for a guest house room-WTF!! -
I am over in Pattaya next month, usually stay in hotel but was considering apartment in Soi LK to keep costs down. Was shocked to see a guest house in that area advertising their better rooms for 1000 and 1200 in Feb/March. What planet are they on to be raising their rates to that level given the current situation. I can get a full service hotel with pool for those kind of rates. Surely no one is going to book in there at those rates.
-
I've just booked into the Summer Spring for the first few nights of my stay next month-don't mind the location as I normally stay in Soi 2, and the rooms and rooftop swimming pool look really nice. I think PBR rates at the moment are too high, might look to stay there low season as the rates are much better then. Only thing is hotel wants my credit card number to guarantee the booking, I don't normally book that way, but they don't want my security number on the back so should be safe enough.
-
They do good nosh there as well.
-
Bit the bullet and booked 3 weeks in Pattaya next month-£426 with Etihad ex Manchester (used them before)-excellent departure/connecting times. Bring it on!!
-
Times must be hard in Pattaya when hotels are offering discounts this time of year. Sabai Inn is giving 10% discount for stays of a week or more-mind you as their prices were bumped up 10% from last year, it really means that they are back to last years levels. Still it shows that hotels are having to react to the lack of tourists about. If anyone hears of any other places with special offers now, please post here so any BMs looking to go over in the next month or two can consider them.
-
A combination of competition, reduced passenger numbers and plummetting oil prices starting to kick in, flight prices look set to drop dramatically in the coming months. Even Emirates has dropped Bangkok prices by 20%. Etihad has flights from Manchester in Feb for £418,amazing for this time of year,am very tempted by that despite the lousy exchange rate.
-
The Manchester flight prices didn't seem to last more than 24 hours-I guess the early bird catches the bargains. Hopefully they may reappear, just gotta keep checking daily.
-
Maybe the downturn in oil prices will lead to reduced airfares. For those of us travelling from Manchester Qatar have just brought out flights in Jan/Feb/March for £442,pretty damn good for that time of year, limited dates but o.k. if you are flexible. Helps make up for the crap exchange rate!
-
The offer is still on now.It does say in the heading that Bangkok offer is "extended" despite mentioning 14th Sept deadline also. You can book flights and view seat plans etc.I'm off to the passport office today to renew my expired one,if the offers still showing when I get back from work tonight, will see what dates are available and take it from there. If it wasn't for the Middle East airlines, don't think I could afford to go there anymore as flights with others are way too expensive.
