  1. Good find - just whacked in a couple of dates around then and came up with same price. £471 got to be considered a bargain these days, Etihad a quality airline. Very tempting as I usually go at that time of year anyway. Nice one.
  2. I was really talking about ex Manchester, always going to be decent prices from LHR because of the competition. Having said that, Emirates have got flights ex Man for £510 at the moment, not too bad in the circumstances.
  3. Been up and down NP a number of times and my view is that it is an area where mainly expats go, for the cheap beer and to meet up,where there will be no hassle for drinks and people can enjoy themselves,so good for them, usually a party going on at one of the bars. Plenty of bars with not many customers and I got to say probably the worst selection of girls I've seen in Pattaya, I've yet to see a single girl I would BF, and I ain't that fussy.
  4. I guess £499 would have to be considered o.k. value these days, flight prices now back to the levels when I first started going to Patts 15 or so years ago.Trouble is the poor exchange rate for the pound means accommodation and all other costs make for an expensive trip-I gave it a miss in 2010 and may do the same in 2011.
  5. God knows what the prices will be by then, only a year or so ago was getting around £430 mark, never see that again.
  6. Stayed there last year for a few nights, rooms still looks same as above, prob could do with new tv's now,and seaviews have disappeared but still a lot to recommend it,very quiet at night, staff are good, all been there for years, watch out for the uniformed night security guy who stands to attention and gives you a smart salute!
  7. Showing at £452 with Netflights going out end of August, that's £100 cheaper than the next one up,pretty good considering all the extra add ons to the fare these days, they do charge extra for cc bookings, excellent times as well. Not making the trip this year, god knows what the fares(and exchange rates) will be in a years time.
  8. Had a look around Citin Loft, really nice rooms, but swimming pool at front under awning, and too out of way for me.Baboona has great location, haven't seen the rooms,no swimming pool and wouldn't be quiet right on Beach Road,so depends what you are looking for. I would go for BJ Lodge round corner in Soi 3,or Summer Spring in Soi 1,both have nice pools and fairly quiet locations, and rooms around 1000 this time of year.
  9. Summer Spring in Soi 1 has stay 7 get 1 free, works out about 1000 a night for quality superior room,I believe the tv finally has some English channels now as well. good quiet location within easy reach of everything.
  10. Why not try a Condo, you could get top of the range one at swanky North Shore with gorgeous sea views for near top of your price range, or try VT6, quality studio room for half your budget, both on circular baht bus route, plenty of good rental deals at that time of year for a month stay.
  11. Why not try a Condo, you could get top of the range one at swanky North Shore with gorgeous sea views for near top of your price range, or try VT6, quality studio room for half your budget, both on circular baht bus route.
  12. The "VT6 room pics" shown are obviously bogus as the room looks tiny, whereas VT6 studio rooms are standard 48sq metres and spacious,as can be seen on Dancewatchers and Condo6 websites. 500 a night for VT6 room,no chance-if something sounds too good to be true,it usually is-buyer beware!
  13. Paid £298 back in June with Qatar from Manchester, good connections, would be happy with a fare for £100 more next year.
  14. I have used Dancewatchers, stayed in VT6 by Soi 9, great location with access to Beach Road and Second Road, next to Central Festival mall, rooms are very nice and very secure, pics as on website, usually about 25000 a month although sometimes has specials.
  15. Why not try a condo - Dancewatchers has some really nice rooms in View Talay 6 for 1300 a night, excellent location, access to both Second Road and Beach Road from the building.
  16. The lowest price rooms were 1250 in June but with no balcony and no view better value elsewhere, although great location and really nice rooftop pool. I had a corner room at Summer Spring with good balcony and view down Soi 1 to Beach Road for 1050,but you pay your money you take your choice.
  17. Qatar out Man in Nov,back in Dec for £370,I'd take them over Etihad at that price, flight times etc very similar, flew with them last month, got one of their £299 fares.
  18. I had a tour of it when I was there last month as it looked good on the website and the web price of 1199 a night looked good value. The rooms are really nice and spacious with very large bathroom with separate shower.Room had safe, robe and slippers, large fridge and big balcony overlooking front. Decided against it as location was not good for me, a fair walk to get to Central or Second Road and down some dark lanes at night, also the pool is ground level at front of hotel and is covered by a large awning so doesn't get the sun. If you had your own transport, would be a viable option,as I say
  19. As the breakfast there is at least 100 baht,it is good value-I eat there regularly when in Pattaya, but wouldn't stay in that area-although I do love Soi 6!
  20. The one in Soi 10 doesn't look bad but no mention of a pool there on the website-agree about the rest though.
  21. I would say you should make it no problem, my flight arrived 06.55 and I was booked on 08.00 bus. Flight arrived bang on time and I was actually through customs by 07.35. Would say two things-try to get a seat near the exit so you are off the plane quick and fast walk to immigration. Other thing in your favour is that bus always leaves 10/15 mins late.
  22. I walked past there plenty of times up to 12th March and it looked plenty short of ready. I've just got an email from them saying that deluxe empress rooms are 1250 a night May/June. I would like to see pics of the rooms etc first but none seem to be available. I will prob book elsewhere for my first week anyway and then go and take a look around the place, although with no balcony, the rooms would have to be pretty good for me to book as there are plenty of decent places with pool for around 1000 in that area at that time of year. At least there will be no joiner fee with it being part of Sa
  23. No,just the regular 2hr stopover each way-would never book a flight with an 8hr wait no matter how much the saving.
  24. Just saw Netflights ad in Daily Mail showing Qatar flights to Bangkok for £299.I fly from Manchester so wasn't optimistic, but had a play around with dates, nothing in June but a flight ex Man on 29th May ret 18th June came up for £298!! So even though I only got back from there 6 weeks ago, couldn't resist that price so have just booked it-never had a flight that cheap before, have flown with Qatar before and was fine-Doha was o.k.. Good flight times as well-well done to Qatar!!
  25. Smelly, I'm confused. In your opening post said, you said "and since this forum (and others) was such a helpful source of info". That would seem to indicate that you weren't new to this forum. No flies on you CT. VT6 joint looks the goods, though, and very close to Sky Slops too. Don't know where you get that idea,it's nowhere near Skytop, which is opp Soi 6,VT6 is Soi 9,I would say a good mile or more away-I did the walk a few times when I stayed in VT6 last month in a Dancewatcher condo. Excellent room and balcony with full facilities, only downside view totally
