  1. It is apparently built slightly elevated so that prevents water flowing in, where it goes instead to gather we shall have to wait and see. Perhaps the North Rd junction. The tunnel itself I would expect to have drainage and pumps.... time will tell as Thailand don't do maintenance and acts like the rainy season is a surprise each year.

  3. Bugger...... Pattaya tunnel project delayed
  4. Or use a PM.
  5. Yes I was talking to someone, saying how I was going to bring USD20,000 cash equivalent next trip into Thailand, now a sizeable £16,000. But I was reminded of the ex-UK € limit, which is a rather lowly £8600. Bloody EU and their rules, be glad to be rid of them. I dont mind declaring ex-UK, but to be honest, would not like to make a declaration entering Thailand with over the £16000. Anyone do this quite regular....? The rate bank transfer v TT cash exchange at a full baht per £ better I prefer in my pocket.

  7. I hope you stop for a minute at the place I have visited twice...earlier in this thread.
  8. Still finishing touches but most of the work seems to be the resurfacing of the roads and construction of roads on the approaches and the Klang junction. Very dangerous on a bike. Although there is a way to cut through now, I got off the Southbound Rd, onto the Northbound aiming to get onto Klang, but I was a little too far North, and things were blocked. I had to go back the wrong way using the slip Rd with Penumg Furniture on the corner. I followed some locals!
  9. An inability to even taste the meat surely is the Hallmark of US burgers?
  10. Well you may not but it just makes things a little confusing... you cannot renew a visa in country. You can renew your retirement extension up to a month early, I often do else I would be going to Jomtiem during the New Year spell when it is busy and there are many holidays. Sorry cannot help wrt proof of income.... I prefer to use the bank deposit method.
  11. I don't know. Some time ago that whole block, including the hotel next door, now called the Basaya, was earmarked for another Mall. Not sure what happened to that plan, but there surely are enough places to shop in town these days and more in the pipeline. As an aside, anyone remember the old name of that hotel? I forget. I do recall it is where the coaches from Bangkok used to terminate before the days of the North Rd Rung Ruen bus station. Now that was convenient, as I would stroll round to PK Hotel, (or was it PC) I think it as called on Beach Rd, and be unpacked and in a beer bar in no time.
  12. Yes I strolled through there about 2 weeks ago and it was empty bar a few stalls. Seems such a waste.

  17. Hope my Mrs doesn't read of this, she won't come get me anymore! Coincidentally Uber just banned from the airport... if that means anything! Source. Later Edit! Uber driver fined 2,000 baht for taking passengers at Suvarnabhumi airport/ Source Mind you, this also used to happen to unofficial taxis at the airport too. Thai taxi drivers ain't going to like Uber, and they are ornery enough already!
  18. Reminds me of 'Chinatown' and the line 'You are screwing just like a Chinaman'.....
