  2. Coincidentally was talking to my neighbour last night and he was complaining of his 3BB connection which went down during the recent rains and stayed down. My True connection survived. My complaint is the speed of international connection is poor in the evenings, especially weekends when everyone else is trying to stream footy (or rugby). It might sound great to give me 30Mb to Bangkok but that isn't much use..... a connection to UK can drop below 1Mb. OP, as Idefix is describing to you it is a process of elimination. If indeed the second modem/ router is there simply to provide Wireless (the standard 3BB should), I would be tempted to remove it completely if you can get into the configuration and clone it. Most modem routers come with both ethernet and wireless these days. It this is the only wireless device you have you may also be getting interference from other signals using the same channel and a channel change could help.
  3. Right, let us get moving on from Gerard Butler..... Rocknrolla
  4. I think the Jomtiem construction on the Beach got hit too according to Atlas2
  5. Mr Key Visa is appearing at The Expats Club on Sunday and I will see what information he has... he seems to have connections. That is if I can get there!
  6. Six inches at best! A few days rain won't make up for what we have missed. The lake doesn't seem to be much of a catchment area, ie not many hills around it to feed it. I have a pool and have probably pumped the aforementioned 6 inches out over the last 3 days. Sadly I am unable to go take a look and may have to cancel my Friday night curry as I have been isolated somewhat due to the floods. (Posted elsewhere).
  7. Rather a coincidence but I received a call from a pal yesterday as he was sat on the plane waiting to take off and said he had made it to the airport with no issues other than a slightly longer trip. (he is attending the rugby world cup). I, on the other hand, am feeling somewhat isolated as the rains have washed out the bridge again and the other route, the road which was under repair, is impassable as much of it is now located elsewhere. My Mrs drove 275 km without too much issue to be thwarted within 500m of the house. I slipped and stumbled out to where she had stopped with umbrella in my UK Barbour jacket to get to where she was, and we decided she would try a little known back route, while I tried to track and advise her from the comforts of my laptop. All went well except the usual Thai issue when I called her and told her she had gone the wrong way, but she was following a Thai man who of course must be going the right way! A few minutes later they were both backtracking. I shall supply coordinates for the red cross parcels to be dropped later. Later Edit: Panic over....after reconnaissance it appears ppears the bridge is intact after all, and they had only closed the road yesterday as it was under water and the flow was dangerous, plus surrounding water made it likely people would topple off the edges.
  8. Very good and useful report. Although it concerns me slightly that you were not consulted about the type of lens to be implanted. Perhaps he went ahead with a single focus to match what you already had in the other eye? Also you suggest you will need contacts or glasses for driving when I expected the lens would be gauged to give you perfect distant vision, and hence require reading glasses. That would seem better.
  9. Yes apparently, which means we are on,,, Gerard Butler who now advertises Boss Bottle on UK TV,
  10. Someone told me recently it is just being renovated and not, as I originally thought, knocked down to be replaced by a big ugly condo or hotel. So perhaps it will be back like Arny.
  11. Guys could drown in such deluges. Boy did I get lucky, I was going to ride to Jomtiem on my bike to meet a pal as we were off someplace. As it looked likely to rain I asked to be picked up. I would still be in Jomtiem now! Some more pics of the results here
  12. Well a good heavy rain spell last night too so possible issues again. I only recall once trying to get to the airport after the end of a holiday weekend and we hit tail-backs about 10km back from the airport. This was all traffic returning to the capital. They had even choked up the entrance to the airport as they tried to bypass the queue by going in there. Had me sweating. There must be floods after last night, my lawn looked like a pool. And it rains on.

  14. Some serious rain in the last 24 hours.

  15. Same as here then but I bet an inch fell. Of course there can be heavy areas. I look at this site to get an idea of where the rain is and where it is going.

  17. This is pleasing and surprising. I am pleased that some twats who skipped without paying their bill got their come-uppance. I am surprised that in a country where terrorists and criminals seem to go and come quite easily, they can catch up with a couple of bill skippers.
  18. I haven't quite figured out exactly where this was but it sounds close to where I live and may impact those riding Hwy 7 all the way to Sukhumvit. I hope nobody got caught up in this coming from the airport last night. Trips to the airport may need to set off a little early if the rain persists. Remember the Bangkok area gets a lot more of the rain than Pattaya normally does. Bangkok-Chonburi motorway submerged last night. Source.
  19. Real rain last night, termite and frog time!

There's more to come Jacko, another 48 hours worth according to the radar.

  20. Yes I realise, I commented as you mentioned the escalators and stairs 'on the other side' of Suk.......not an option with a suitcase really.
  21. I would not say Mr Colov looked particularly unhealthy Billions. Not seen him for a couple of week (he just got married), but always struck me as having a lot of energy. Their radio station is back on the air, (96FM and 91.75 FM), The TV channel appears to be on Sophon as normal at the moment. Although you are correct as I cannot get it to stream from the App. I believe a new guy was appointed into a senior position there (General manager maybe) which made me think changes were afoot.
  22. Is Phloen Chit not nearer? Crossing Sukhumvit with a suitcase is not much of an option. The Skytrain seems busy at all times and anything other than a back-pack would be hard work in sweaty BKK.
  23. Many years ago I used to get Non-Imm O type visas (multiples) from the very compliant Hull consulate and was required to do Visa runs every 90 days. I expect you only had a single Non-Imm B and extended it each year? What did you start off with? I recall a neighbour of mine had a dodgy lawyer (and dodgy work permit probably) and he made him leave the country every 90days and start his process again to make more money. When he wised up and baulked and said he wouldn't pay a big bill, the lawyer wouldn't return his passport to him.
  24. A real thunderstorm at last.
