Plumbing this morning, fixed a sprinkler valve (ie replaced it and the other blue plastic bits and got glue all over my fingers.) Then had a swim, showered and rode to the barbers. As I sat waiting I watched the barber stick a long cocaine spoon and other implements into this guys ears and remove clumps of wax...... disgusting. The guy also had this strange gunk on his head, which might have been dye but wasn't black. Got my hair cut, neck and ears shaved and eyebrows trimmed etc. Barber took his time, about 1/2 hour, and I paid him far less than the UK minimum wage, sacrilege!!!! Off for a massage too, then bought some more plumbing bits at Homepro, ready for the next failure, also got some G-Clamps, might be useful. Was going to go into Subway for a foot-long but a big fat bastard was coming out as I approached so I changed my mind. Seems quiet around, few motorcycles parked at the side of BigC-X, and didn't have to queue at the checkout in there, unheard of on a Monday. Has it been quiet around town for a while, or did it start today? I have been away a few weeks. A bit of rain, but not much really. New sprinkler valve will be idle though and I shall just 'water' myself with a cold SML.

£450 to upgrade one leg is equivalent of £900 difference for the round trip. Debatable... not really such a bargain in my eyes.. Your choice, but I go for the way you are treated as a passenger in Biz rather than a sheep in economy, The A380 Biz class experience is great. The Qatar-Manchester leg not so great. Only you can decide if the money can be used better elsewhere, especially in Pattaya...... Factor in the Fast Track check in and security. The lounge access at BKK (use the Thai lounges at the ABC concourse end)..a beer or two. Non queue boarding. Welcome champagne and comfy seat etc. Access to the distant premium lounge in Doha with waiter service restaurant.

I get frequent mild cases during the hot-hot season. Rather difficult for her with these local markets in this heat. Since Thailand is in the company in that list of USA (I guess) and India where I have never and definitely had food poisoning respectively I wonder if there is any basis to it. I practice caution but still get it.....

Well, under normal circumstances, you would hear the water filling up,your tank, or find that it had filled up. But you apparently have an issue there. For me I can turn my pump off and see if my hose pipe still works, or the old standby, go look at the meter and see if the little wheel is spinning.

I have put a ball valve in line with the check/non-return valve to give me a selection ability... although I do prefer to run through the bypass ...keeps my electric bill down! (Tight, what me.......??) So I turn my pump off and get a heads up every time my City water is off and I often dash to the pump switch in the early hours because the toilet isn't refilling. Also it gets turned on when she does laundry and I water the garden. My neighbour has all his pipework buried under concrete but fortunately mine was under dirt, so I could get to it when I needed to replace the check valve....

Yes, as per my home arrangement, you could run off city pressure only and then the tank and pump become a 'backup'. My pump kicks in when I use garden sprinklers as more water is needed than city supply can maintain. And when City supply is low. Your circumstance are odd not to be filling up that tank You are fortunate indeed (or have been) if City water is so reliable that the pump never need run.

Strange system you must have then.......at my current place 'city' water feeds my tank through a ballcock valve and the tank feeds the pump, which is pretty standard. There is also a bypass line from city water, around the tank via a check valve, meaning I can actually turn off the pump and run off city line pressure. Belt and braces, but at my prior place nearer the City this would never have worked as City pressure was pretty poor there. Sorry to be dull, I am actually interested in that sort of stuff and have done much plumbing work at the house myself. So she is doing laundry eh.. Well if it is in an automatic machine, yes they use a good bit of water. Conservation is an alien concept, here, mine lacks it with respect to money.

I just did the Biz Class on the Qatar A380 (Bangkok to Doha), very nice indeed.
