We have these in the UK, but they never work for my passport. It would be nice not to have to queue at Bangkok Airport though. It does say Initially, those eligible for machine-processed entry will only be foreign residents of Thailand who pre-registered with the immigration police to use the devices. A little surprising as I would have thought Thai passports could be processed too and that would be more straightforward. Scheduled to be ready in July 2015. Source.

No, I was going to go now. They do a much better job if you go out of hours and climb in through a window! -

I went back and edited the post, and apologised, none of which are Mod privileges. What else is required in your esteemed opinion? -

Are you getting any SMS messages with the word Telewiz in English? (Perhaps they are just being sent to everyone!) I suppose it is best to be going there and check, I don't want a number I have had for 11 years to be blocked. Perhaps they can put my new passport number in there! -

Nah, my screw up after using the search function. Apologies for confusion. -
You need to come and experience the idea of detours here, you just come face up to a row of concrete barriers.

My steps for getting a Thai driver's license
jacko replied to BeerBelly's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Good update Gonzo. Coincidentally I had a friend renew his expired 5 year licence yesterday..... it had expired some months ago I believe. He set off at 10am from Pattaya and was told to come back in the afternoon to pick up his new licence, he came to my place for a cup-of-tea before returning as I live nearby. -
Give it a try round the tunnel construction in Pattaya and see how that works out for you!

Despite what I have said elsewhere, about all my SIMs being registered, I gave my passport number to AIS about 8 year ago or whenever it was last required, and I recently used the AIS *141# code which I thought said I was OK, apparently I am not. Just got an SMS in Thai which, instead of the usual delete I got the better half to read..... Go to Telewiz and register my SIM or it will be blocked........ I suppose I shall go to Telewiz Monday, I won't take my passport just to mess with them....... have to fight the extra delays due to road works, unless the tunnel gets cancelled tomorrow!!!! -
Dry cleaners (Central Pattaya)
jacko replied to typhoon42's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
There is a Nancie Dry Cleaning listed in Facebook (Nancie Landry & Dry Cleaning), appears to be located near the Police Station. Scots people should know, for their kilts. Apparently they should not be washed in soap and water........ the Kilts not the Scots people. -

Is this place still in Naklua? -
Different issue of course..... but often a fear. On the OP, I was always under the impression that the renewal of a 30 year lease was an option available at the end of the term and was by no means guaranteed at the start of it. I am not sure I have got my head fully around this 'secured lease' idea yet, but certainly the claim that the underlying initial 30 year lease may now also be deemed to be invalid is a scare for some. This is actually a court decision rather than the regular rumours we see scattered to improve 36m2 condo sales.

International transfers (American Bank to Thai Bank)
jacko replied to simplelife's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I did an international transfer yesterday, off topic as it was from a offshore/ UK bank. It was completely free at the UK end. It cost 500 baht at the Thai end. But bugger me, the exchange rate dropped from 50+ (baht/£) when I initiated the transfer (in fact that was why I decided to do it), to 49.6 by the time it landed this AM. Has someone found my old pal Mervyn and prodded him with a stick......? -
Frogs live in the sea, well I never!

No 'think' about it Teelack, Air Asia is out of DM now. One obvious advantage Bangkok Airways has if one needs to make an International BKK connection.

Yes, well you could on Sunday! As to the opposite, well the entrance to the motorway towards Suk from the Railway line Rd was open yesterday so logic says there has to be a way to get out! (I was going to turn in there yesterday to check it out, but had a fuck-it, I am going home moment. )
-
That appears to show Klang to Suk northbound as open, I thought it had been closed off. It also appears you can still come from the motorway, and get on to Sukhumvit to head North... any comment there as that would work for me.

If it wasn't for the roundabout I would never have figured out where to start.!

I took a drive up the railway line bypass today, to see how things are progressing. Not much change from forcebwithu's reporting above. North and South on Sukhumvit is much the same as last weekend, some delay where it narrows just after Klang southbound. The inconvenience is ongoing, how about you get going with the digging! Soi Siam CC has been blocked off completely, which surprised me as I thought the plan was to make it one way. This is what will greet you if you turn left off Sukhumvit onto soi Siam CC at the railway line Rd (you can still turn to head north). So, I had to go straight on to Soi Nerm Plub Wan, where a right turn is still possible, police directing traffic there. It may be possible to U-Turn there or at Soi Siam CC, head North and get onto Hwy 7 towards Sukhumvit, which was open...BUT... I didn't try it to confirm if the traffic lights and road are open to turn right onto Sukhumvit Northbound there.

Thanks for the help there Greg, I stayed down because I was looking for my bottle that rolled away. Now I know why Johnnie Walker make theirs square.

I just told you it does have one but it is inaccessible. Under the tank and in the middle. It is only slightly raised over a concrete pad. Should have had a connection put in at installation I guess. I must correct myself on the other point, I now recollect my old place, the blue plastic tank did have a screw in plug. My Thai GF actually managed to climb in there and clean it a couple of times. A hose pipe would have worked, but of course I had no water as I had drained the tank.
