The procedure your USA bank requires is specific to that bank. Generally USA banks are not as geared up to international stuff as many from other countries. You should investigate that yourself. A OTP on a Thai phone number should not be required to transfer into that Thai account. Your Thai account may well verify it has received money using an SMS, or you can verify by viewing that account on-line. You do not need an international Bank, just a Thailand bank account with a major Thai bank be it Kasikorn, Bangkok Bank or SCB. How long it takes to get internet services associated to it after opening it may vary. I did so somewhat later as it was so long ago, but recall it didn't take long. Get here and get the account opened, then internet services organised, but don't depend on having transfer facilities up and running for that vacation's 'needs', IE bring some cash/TCs to deposit. I am thinking you will find the Thai end easier than the USA end.

I can understand them wanting to deter people from loading up their plates and not eating all their food, but surely leaving something behind (the gristle from the meat, the tasteless veggies, whatever) should be expected. Awkward one to police I suspect. I have felt the same sense of waste, for example, seeing what an Arabic family can leave behind at a buffet breakfast. I suppose if it doesn't taste like camel-milk yoghurt they don't want to eat it!

97 Baht Van from Bangkok to Pattaya from Victory Monument
jacko replied to tequilareef's topic in Transport in Thailand
Welcome.... I am often stood at the Sala on Sukhumkvit rubbing the crusts out of my eyes, looking at the crazy driving antics of the rush-hour drivers, until she gets picked up.- 40 replies

You would think you could get more beans through an elephant than a civet and hence get a lower price.

That place has been there for years, and has been advertised with the same advert on Pattaya One for years too.Just like 'Beefeater'........I often ponder whether the girls in the adverts looking away sheepishly are still with us?

Rather a rush job on the TV/DVD connection there. Only a single socket back there? My Thai Missus might struggle to use the microwave too. -
Catch.... that's a whole minefield.

97 Baht Van from Bangkok to Pattaya from Victory Monument
jacko replied to tequilareef's topic in Transport in Thailand
The advantage to me, or rather the missus, with these vans, is that you can get a phone number, and can arrange to be picked up on the way. That is applicable as I live near Sukhumvit/Hwy 36 and they don't mind picking up there. (They then head up 36 to get onto the 'motorway (#7)). Although she often ends up in the remaining jump seat. I find these vans a bit cramped as I am quite tall, so usually ride my bike into North Pattaya, and get the regular Ekamai bus from Rong Ruen, There is a bike park right next to the bus station. These busses use the new motorway extension, then 7, and change to Hwy 3 using the elevated road into Bang Na. I often get off before Ekamai to get on the Skytrain as Sukhumvit is slow. Last return trip the bus stopped and picked up what appeared to be students from a bus station after Ekamai, further down Suk, and these guys wanted dropping off in Laem Chabang, which basically meant the other 50 passengers got screwed as the bus went through heavy traffic towards the port and had to go the wrong way for miles.- 40 replies

97 Baht Van from Bangkok to Pattaya from Victory Monument

Yes I have used this service.... it can seem to be whizzing along quite fast and efficiently. Although on the way out we had a longish stop to fill up with LPG or some obscure fuel.... And how quickly you make it also depends on where other people want dropping off.- 40 replies

What prepaid 12 Call package to get ?
jacko replied to Odense's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I have had the same phone number in Thailand for 8 years now with 12Call.. As I live here I am not worried about expiration or losing my number from non-usage. I started out on Freedom Planet and got the roaming option as I knew I would be calling overseas. One day I discovered that calls to different networks were really expensive, and did a switch on-line. I think they took 50 baht off me to do that. Now my plan is listed in Thai..โทรสบาย[1.50B]. I keep my balance over 500 baht and currently there is over 200 days on it's validity. I subsequently bought a 2 SIM phone and now use TRUE (Inter SIM) just for cheap international calls to landlines, which I use frequently. Here is a web-page talking about plans and promotions....http://www.ais.co.th/12call/en/promotion.html I can't be bothered ploughing through it, last nights beer and GGB noise has left me squeamish.
