I saw a news report that claimed 10 bike riders and the car driver may have taken offence at the way the bikes were driving.Have to wonder if it is safe being out and about late at weekends......... The checks on motorcycles I frequently see at 11am or so may be more fruitful at 3am.

I did it myself, well went with the TGF. Armed with one of those books from TAT that lists all the hotels and guest houses. Stayed in a reasonable hotel in the City. Took the regular bus from Pattaya to the Southern Bangkok Station, but coming back we took a longer journey looping round to Moechit. These organised minibus trips are rarely very good. They like to pack them full, and of course they are done on the cheap. My natural aversion to paying up-front in Thailand made me go myself, but of course the TGF's language abilities were a necessity. It is a good interesting trip though.
