  1. And a beer...... ?
  2. I think it is of more concern how the renters treat them which is often an unknown quantity. But with a fully automatic bike like this, abuse is harder.
  3. Some areas are well known for putting ketchup on everything. I came from a household where the HP/Daddies only came out for the Sunday AM breakfast......unless there was a weekday fry-up for tea.I always thought they did more of this in the USA. French fries had to be eaten with fingers and ketchup. The GF there wondered why she ate salads and put on weight, could have been the blue cheese dressing eh?
  4. Sometimes you can wait and wait for that baht bus to fill up.
  5. After 3 days of fried rice and Pad Thai a steak pie and chips covered in HP probably tastes good any place. So my thought is many people are not pursuing haute cuisine.
  6. Steve McQueen (who else?)
  7. Brad Pitt........ oh sorry.....
  8. Robert Duvall.
  9. Yes, for pretty much everything except baht buses. But there are still the cheaper options of draft in GGBs and BBs offering bottles at 45-50 baht. That is why Pattaya is popular, you can find cheap and the big spenders are handled quite well too. You sound like you will find your way around and be OK. Do you speak Thai?
  10. No it's film-actor-film-actor.... etc.
  11. Yes that would be internet.......... doh Robert Duvall(Hard not to get confused with the long running series)
  12. Fight Club.(When I saw yr first line I thought FFS here we go again.... ;d)
  13. I thought the presumed tips factored into the (reduced) salary (and tax) was a USA thing and not semi-Third world countries so much. And I don't see it as anything to be proud of, I always thought this practice was unsavoury. Many countries have a minimum wage level that even waiters must be paid. You say there are countries where waiters receive no salary whatsoever, where is that?
  14. How do people post pics without resorting to the internet? I just got up and all this Mooking around (Donepezil) has made me feel a bit confused. We are all getting on I suspect . Wasn't Saffron Burrows in... Troy
  15. You are spoiling it for everyone else.
  16. I always leave a tip in restaurants and bars. It has come to be expected in the tourist areas. Odd twenty baht for few beers, 50-60 baht after a meal, 1 or 2 people..
  17. Michael Madsen
  18. Kiefer Sutherland.
  19. I never take out my reading glasses, I lose things. Her indoors says she won't be lending me any more umbrellas when I go out.So now I will buy one each time on the way back and present it to her saying thanks for the loan.
  20. Easy Rider
  21. Yeah, I suppose it was easier with the separate tabs per drink...rather than having to squint at the itemised bill in the black-light.
  22. Yes, an old recommendation that perhaps was SOP in the Philippines...... I gave it a go once, but after several beers I started to forget to do it which somewhat defeated the object. It may make them move on to...adding up the total wrong or just returning insufficient change. It really isn't that bad these days, it is just so much easier to hit the bin of the guy buying for everyone........ and many places have the itemised computer billing.
  23. Jack Nicholson.
  24. Quite possibly..... I can only comment on a particular train I took from HuaHin which did indeed seem to stop at a lot of places and was a method for the locals to transport their farm produce by the look of it.
  25. Greg Kinnear
