  1. I did see them Sunday just around the corner on Soi Arunotai, I turned left off Klang. Fortunately on a green light as I believe that turning left against lights, where it is not permitted, is being used as a revenue earner lately.
  2. Got stopped yesterday.... simply showed my Thai licence and was on my way. Didn't even have to take my helmet off.
  3. No, even the very few we did have have given up on the restriction. Not in Thai nature to impose the rules, other than paying the bill. We now have to rely on the consideration of smokers not to do so in an enclosed environment..........

  12. Vacation.
  13. High speed internet connection required........ ain't got one, certainly not to an international server. Where is this server by the way? At Expats yesterday there was talk of a system that beams some UK channels via satellite to a server in Bangkok, I could manage 2MB to there perhaps. It was subscription and either you put software on your computer, or plugged your router into another box that put out a signal for a TV. Hidef could be possible with that arrangement. The box cost a bit too.
  14. Independence Day
  15. Those types of tales, and the following post by Gabor (exhibiting how these dim-witted locals can be conned into letting anybody into a condo) make one worry. Prior to a financial 'set-back', I was contemplating buying a condo in town. Currently I have a house well out of town. I felt I needed a place to stay now and again, where I could drive there, have a night in town, and come back to the house next day. I miss having good restaurants and bars nearby. The place could also act as a fall-back when I decide to sell the house. Perhaps I need to do a deal with some guy who leaves his place empty 9 months a year.
  16. Dances with Wolves.

    Big Deal

Just took a look at my Qatar ticket to Manchester. The fare was 68500 baht.... what they categorise as 'taxes and Carrier-imposed Fees' another 22,010.00 THB A third on top. With the current oil price, and the way the air ticket has been a source of unlimited taxes and charges by goody goody green governments.... and then the added satisfaction of asking more from those who prefer not to be treated like a sardine and have the effrontery to pay more for a bit of comfort, I wonder how they are filling up the planes.
  21. What the hell is going on? There was a film to film post and a bounce back that may be a pun.... Too much Saturday night boozing going on....last I can see is...... The Sopranos lady...... a fine HBO series. Medicine Man
  22. Sadly a lot have their houses taken away by the party too.
