Looks like BA are going over the cliff with the recent announcement of industrial action over the Christmas period.

I would avoid the way I did it.....by bus from Nong-Khai. Rather a decrepid little bus that followed the river for a while. Quite an adventure!

Agreed, me and a mate get picked up and brought home after a night out sometimes too!
-
Yes correct, so for me, EVA are bad!
-
To fly EVA, which is the subject of the thread. Do they go from other European hubs? There are NO direct flights to Bangkok from 'The North of England'..... changing at LHR should at least be as easy as changing in Amsterdam, sadly the staff at LHR and BA can't handle that!

While I have a grasp of the 'keeping active' idea, not sure you have got a grip of 'retiring' in LOS! Nowhere to walk to from my place.... and the soi dogs make that a hazzard. A trip to the 7-11 aint' worth maneuvering the truck. There are a couple of places I visit in Pattaya, but the frustration of sitting in traffic and finding parking gets to me, but the TGF loves to drive the truck around and has been known to 'get the beer'.

That is a poor time to arrive, early AM works better for those wanting to get to Manchester/ Scotland.I would be lucky to catch the last (20.35) up to Manchester, and then likely no trains from there.

Impressive, the bad report was only 1 post and 16 hours earlier.

Whats the lowest fare you've ever paid to Los ?
jacko replied to Chivas's topic in Airline Discussion
Well have to be a lot of Gin and Tonics to be worth it, but what the hell.Did you book this directly with their website or through an agent? I am getting about that for Biz Class with some carriers, and it would be well short for my favourite Singapore! -
Search function........

That is okay, I live in Banglamung and am quite happy with being 'close' to Pattaya but not in it. Transport required, truck or car for shopping, and a little bike to get about here and there. Not sure about 'investing in condos'... well not Pattaya ones anyhow. I feel it is a risky market and the cash could get safer returns another place.

Yes, but where. I already read the ladie's house bit. Pattaya, Bangkok, Nakhon Nowhere?Sounds like the lady won't be a financial burden which improves things.

Three trips under your belt and worried about coffee.... I thought you Australian guys liked beer. We got Bon Cafe and Starbucks and a few others, but too many guys here have the shakes already!

Thanks for futher details, interesting and I think you will be OK.As you say, with a deteriorating medical condition, the sooner the better. I manage without seeing my bank and CC statements just fine, all on the internet. Glad to hear of a solid relationship, sorry to pry but it seemed you were going in hard and fast there! The 90k is enough away from the bright lights, but with the frequent flights, a woman to support and the high expenses you are likely to see the first year it may be close. Obviously with money, more is better. Some months I easily survive on 90k, but when car insurance, medical and a few other bills come in together I easily pass that. Where do you plan to live?

'Firies pension'.... ?? You mean from being a fireman?90,000 baht alone isn't enough, I hope you have other sources, also is it index linked or something to account for inflation etc? I have my mail sent to a place in the UK, but nothing is urgent. You could have it DHL/FedExed every month or so. But if you go home every 3 months maybe not required, lots of flight costs there! I think 47 is a touch young but why not? How solid is the relationship with the TG, jumping straight into living together in her place makes the hair on my neck bristle.

Mahan Air from BHX to BKK £330 (including tax)
jacko replied to jogsuk's topic in Airline Discussion
Much as I prefer Biz Class and dislike paying much for it I will wait for some feedback.I am not exactly expecting fine wines and a little glass of Drambui after a pork cutlet dinner from them. I also am concerned how British passengers will be treated in Tehran, we are not exactly flavour of the month over there, being kidnapped for 444 days would certainly make it a long trip. Gay passengers may want to leave the tight T-Shirts and pink trousers in the suitcase too! -

I thought these guys got banned. -
Quite an eccentric routine, but planning is necessary. When the £ plummeted I had to change my plans too, I brought forward the date I estimated my death...... Like your style....

I wish....... That might not make a tourist, but it makes a happy Expat.Really ....120,000 baht/month. Quite a lot....

Well they have these extension things for the big ones, but I am thinking this guy wouldn't be able to strap himself in safely. He is a hazzard to his fellow passengers, if an incident occured you wouldn't be able to get round him, over him or past him to an emergency exit. I also doubt he would fit through the over-wing ones.!

The list before you come here is one thing.Make sure you have sufficient money/income and assets behind you, don't presume any income in LOS, presume outgoings only. See if you can get medical cover at home that will cover you in LOS, whilst medical insurance here is available, lack of it could be the ruin of you. Consider retaining an Oz 'address' and credit cards/ bank accounts, this can be useful. If life in LOS does not work out, what have you got to return to..(as an Ozzy, at least you have a good country, give us UK guys some sympathy on that one.....) Do you have relatives back in Oz? Make considerations for visits home, social or emergency. Don't bring all your money to LOS, nor invest all of it here. More important might be what you do when in LOS in the first year or two... plenty of 'don't dos' for that list!

Why 'hope for the best'? I have done this a few times and I was soon in a taxi, the driver seemed happy to get a long fare. Sure it was 1500, but the vehicle seemed better than the taxis that drop you off (not airport taxi-meters), and the process was straight forward.

Well I accrued a lot of miles with BA travelling on business, so when I retired I decided to burn them off (hate BA), flew 2 round trips business and 1 First. No miles with them left and the problem is I hate economy now!
