Ground transportation options - BKK / Pattaya
jacko replied to FarSider's topic in Transport in Thailand
An alternative is to take the downward 'escalator' This is where the bus leaves for Pattaya, and someone will always offer you a 'taxi' for about 1000-1200 baht to Pattaya, inclusive of tolls and parking. Did it today! -
For someone recovering from a crippling stroke I am surpised to hear you still pull on the weed!

For Fast Track, the security check is just prior to immigration. A little awkward to get to the desk and find the passport while trying to put your belt back on. Yes it does seem a good idea to avoid doing a security check on the duty free sales!

Ahhhha.... the real reason for the change!

That's interesting, I was asking around all over the place a year ago.I will be in the Orange shop Friday! Beats sharing the library PCs with all the asylum seekers! Coincidentally I have just got rid of all the Orange 'branding' of my Ebay purchased mobile. I think it was 2 or more years ago I tried an 'Orange' dial-up option, put this CD in my PC and the damned thing took over my computer and branded everything in sight and screwed up all my defaults. Been wary of Orange since! I don't like the fact that they would have an automatic access to my credit card! I am with O2 in the UK and they don't really take pay-as-you-go customers very seriously. Thanks for the feedback....

Transformer losses!!!!It's going to come from the generator on the end of a turbine, and go up into the air above the transformer!

All options are available...An ariel picks up a couple of channels good, and a few others reasonable. But I am talking of an ariel up high, not one of those set top things. Cable in Pattaya is mainly Sophon, 60 channels, lots of English and all the Thai channels. Costs 3000 pa and these guys seem to be able to get a cable in to you anyplace in town. But you might want to check on others around the place, anybody else got it, you can get it. A satellite dish is also used with 'True', a bit expensive as it is for the Premiership nuts! An ariel off a balcony is normally the way to go.

The place upstairs in TOPS says they can beat the regular places. Haggle a bit and perhaps change a bit more to push their offer up.

They look close to the wall too, lose a bit of efficiency. I have lived in LOS a while now, what does 'serviced' mean......?

At 1500 baht pcm for that crap I think I would be looking elsewhere too.You may want to just try the Edge/GPRS packages, they are generally dirt cheap and if you keep your usage to non-peak are tolerable. I like the flexibility it offers, with a laptop and mobile phone you can use it near anyplace. As to the CAT/Hutch CDMA, I am waiting for it to develop, it seems rather new at the moment. I have the problem when I visit the UK with the laptop, they don't cater for short contract, and sell you an over-priced dongle, which somehow in LOS can be forgotten and the cell-phone used. Currently on TOT, it is slow but Skype works better on it than on my prior TTT Maxnet!

I thought I had it in Korea....

Maybe this one, which doesn't really matter! Pinned Topic And Another This is locked Don't see any locked current topics.......

You want a transformer, not an invertor. An iron doesn't need any 'protection'. Buy a new iron from BigC...... as you say most units will not be big enough for an iron.

" Hot Deals " Bangkok to Europe 10,150 B. (OW) and 16,150 B. (RT)
jacko replied to shokun's topic in Airline Discussion
Yes cheaper from that end, boy did I get it wrong making LOS my starting point. -
It isn't far, about 2-4 km depending how far down you go. Getting to and from the real action (central Pattaya) can be a bit of a chore. Traffic is heavy most of the time. Rent, as you say, for a little 2 bedroom bungalow can be from 10000 up pcm. I was paying 15k for a nicely and fully furnished place.

Sounds like you have to wait, quite a lot! My stopovers are 2 and 2.5 hours in Doha and I'll take the A330!

If you know Barry Kenyon has nothing to do with local Tax authority perhaps you know where the Thai tax office is to get this letter. Barry, who hangs around Immigration, might be able to supply you with the information you need.I was also asked for a similar letter, it is the UK government playing police for other country's tax collection. I dropped the idea and looked elsewhere. I agree with the 'Pandoras Box' fear above. Also being retired in Thailand does not mean you are not liable for tax here.

Those are actually coconut trees......

But there are certainly plenty of dogs over there. In fact that is why I moved away.Generally they are of the little yappy baby substitute variety........ But I once had a German Shepherd opposite, I would have gladly shot it dead many times had I a gun! I feel sorry for the farang vatiety of dogs as they seem to get a lot of problems with the climate. Anyhow, I know a house available for rent on the darkside and will PM you a telephone number if you want it, I would be chuffed to death to have someone with an alsation move next to the dopey cow with the little noisy shit-soo!

Why a Frenchman of course!
-
Healthy it isn't, but I think a good old breakfast is a good way to wake up after a heavy night, and it will see you through until tea time. Shame to have a go at an English tradition, and as the French say, to eat well in England, you would have to eat breakfast 3 times a day.

Phone number needed - dentist
jacko replied to Trvlr's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Link edited, excuse my error. For dentists, I don't know of an online directory, although a google should pull up the bigger ones with web pages. I think going with recommendations of BMs is best. -

Then promptly forgot it? As I said, use the Pattaya Maps link, post the location and I am sure a BM can swing by and take a look. He may not even still be there....... As for recommending dentists, I used the 'art of smile'.... which is located on 2nd Rd near soi 6/1 and Tropical Berts. The dentist that treated me has moved on though. -
Dental Implant Experiences
jacko replied to satyr's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Check with her how long they will take to be fabricated. In Los it can be 5-7 days, any longer than that might not fit in with the flights, warranting a pricey ticket change. -

Is there a reason for this specific dentist? I think if you just use a recommended one, the likelihood is you could be attended to as a walk-in, there and then!
