KLM have done this to me a few times, cancelling the early good connection to Manchester and having me sit around at Sciphol for quite a few hours. You aren't a person to an airline, you are like a suitcase with legs. Fortunately Manchester is reasonably well served, but I can see it is a real inconvenience in your case. As your delay is so long I would ask for food vouchers etc...... Consider going to Manchester and getting on the train from there. Even Leeds or Newcastle.....

You can even buy second hand ones for less at Tuk-Com. Phones in Thailand are not normally locked to a Network so put the two together and off you go.
