    Thai House

Rick, a BM posted this while back and I kept the link. Take a look!Thai House Plans
  2. I was in there Sat, lots of fun as usual.... quite a few new 'faces'..... some of them still a bit shy and seemed to vanish when off the stage. But might have been a particular big spender getting all their attention......... Congrats on 1 year of being up there in the top 'few'!
  3. Just used a UOB ATM and there didn't appear to be a charge. There is one in TOPS.
  4. I have done quite a few long haul train trips in Thailand. As you say the freedom to move around is great, although they can seem very slow at times. Perhaps okay for the 2-3 hour trips.... I did Bangkok to Nong Kai and it seemed to take forever. Then there was the off dute policeman who had drunk himself incoherent waving his gun about and scaring everybody on one trip.
  5. No I don't think you are seeing this right. Joekicker's view makes a lot more sense. They don't like farangs living in LOS without a visa. Boosting visa fees seems like small potatoes in the scheme of things... having a bit of control over who resides in Thailand is likely more important. They still want tourists, Mr and Mrs Smith from Farangland spending 2 weeks on a Phuket beach, Mr Chin and his 200 friends being herded through Mike's, and Joe who works on the rigs spending his 30 day vacation with his chin on a GO-Go bar! But if you live here, you should have a visa, then you are on record, documented and have paid money! The border runner's $$$ is quite minimal, and hardly likely to screw the Thai economy up if lost. Let's face it, they want to do a cheapo bus trip to Poipet..... if they had any $$$ they'd fly down to Singapore and get 30 days rather than 15, or get a visa.
  6. As a farang of course, you are allowed to own a houseboat, but need a 30 year lease on the water.
  7. Tom, I am in fear of belabouring this and boring all the BMs to death. But I like to understand these 'rules'. Let's forget the Malaysian visa you have, it's irrelevant for coming into Thailand. OK you can come and go freely for Malaysia. Let's forget Malaysians.... you aren't one, most readers here probably aren't also. When you come into LOS at Dannok you get a 15 day stamp..... You can now only do this 4 times can't you? Even if you are just nipping into Thailand for a few days each trip. The rule change is obviously aimed to restrict those persisting in LOS without a visa, who just pop over a land border every 15 days. You, living on the other side, would get caught up in these new restrictions.
  8. Google is your friend.. Widescreen 16:9 is great for watching DVDs.....
  9. Yes, some things whiz by!
  10. Yes he was posting in Thailand, under the name Azharleyboy I think. It was happening around November last year.
  11. As I read the OP, you do 4 trips to LOS, without a visa, and they don't let you out and tell you to go to the airport. There isn't no 10 year Multi-Entry visa for LOS!
  12. Jeez, exactly where do you keep this firepole?
  13. This is the 3rd change of rules (in modern times) in an attempt to get this under control isn't it? Well this rule change makes that hard doesn't it? You will have to drive to the airport and leave the car there?
  14. True KLM do, and AF in their version 2 and 3 777-300s. Seat Guru
  15. If you are hoping to share a taxi, there is a section specifically for that. Meeting - cost sharing If you want to book a taxi, search out, Mr T, Mr Toom or Dream Transport. Public taxis are avaialble at the stand, about 1500 baht to Pattaya. Or take the escalator down to the level below arrivals, find gate 8 down there. I got a taxi for 1000 baht (incl tolls) from there.
  16. Where I went last (7 days back) , Oil was quoted at 200 baht. It's low season..... prices vary, but 200 is current and listed someplaces, and obtainable where it is quoted higher.
  17. I saw it happen right infront of me as I tried to enter a well known naughty 'club' the other night. Three Indians were being refused entry by the man on the door. I hung back as I didn't want to add to the controversy by being admitted infront of them (I am white). They protested to no avail, and as they left in I went. I don't know if these guys were from India or perhaps British of Indian descent. I was a little ashamed that I felt a 'now you know how I feel in England' gloat coming on!
  18. Getting down the M60 and M6 without delays is unlikely.....Then again travelling on BA without delays is too!
  19. Thanks Tom, I'll hang on for the PM as I don't see any other airline beating Qatar for me. Perhaps we could book a 'companion ticket' No, I only have a few thousand KLM miles left after my last award ticket. It strikes me as amazing that the European carriers can offer some good Biz Class bargains ex Europe (eg the KLM/AF have their holiday fares about £1750), but they all ignore people booking from this end, it's 134,000 baht????
  20. Who is offering a good price on Biz Class Ex Bangkok Tom? I have been looking for a fare and can't do better than Qatar at about 84,000 baht. Heading to Manchester (September) and usual restrictions, only 1 connection, less than 3 hours, not via Heathrow.
  21. And the extension to that is........The someone else who asks to be taken to a specific hotel, maybe just off the route but requiring the bus to backtrack... now baht bus is in 'taxi mode'..... So I say, 'if you do that, everyone here has to get off as they will be taken in the wrong direction', the Mr Someone decides politely and wisely, to get another, preferably empty, baht bus. Driver will now throw a tantrum and call you all the names under the sun and probably throw you off!
  22. Yes, despite it not being necessary.Saudia flights have a prayer 'room'.....the central galley!
  23. Well you are correct, it is shite, but I just had to look. I hope to see good stuff very soon now that you have got the hang of it!
