  1. Yeah, she gets her UV scanner out of her handbag, puts it on the dressing table, plugs it in (or she might have the portable model
  2. One wonders how many successful restaurants you have behind you with that relaxed attitude? It may be acceptable to be kept waiting in say continental Europe, France or Switzerland for example, but the USA guys are used to quick service, and horny mongers are in a hurry! In Pattaya, putting down a lining for the beer to sit on, shouldn't waste half the evening! The PBGs primary function, is a freelancer bar, providing seats and ambience for couples to lovingly gaze into each other's eyes as they wait for their food is a nice sideline. Problems in the kitchen shouldn't be the customer's concern
  3. Heads up you bar owners... I had Thai TV on on the background and the TGF warned me that there are a LOT of fake 1000 baht notes circulating Bangkok, and no doubt will be here. How many of you have one of these UV note checkers? It might be worth educating some of the cashier staff how to recognise these fakes. Also a friend had his bar scammed out of a chunk of money recently. The MO as follows..... They seem to have a bit of inside info, like knowing the name of the owner and his wife. They turn up at the bar saying they are collecting a payment from the owner. They throw the name
  4. As the recession bites they will have to drop those prices. The weak £ isn't doing you any favours though. Look for deals on BA! Stay clear of Easter in April (12th)
  5. Can't see it. but it must be close to the 'Piston bar' shown here! http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?WztRUBErkcaCADHB
  6. As they say on TV, results vary.I dislike sitting in a baht bus on the corner of 2nd and Pattaya Tai until the driver has more in than a sardine can. So I start to stroll towards the RG... waving at passing baht busses. In high season, in the early hours, most will whiz past as they are on private hire, probably to Jomtiem. Chances are 50/50 you will reach 3rd rd on foot!
  7. Yes I was wandering about BigC (south) yesterday and these things are everywhere and cheap. Plenty well under 2000 baht..... I have one that plays CDs and MP3 files, so I have burned collations of favourite music.... great for background entertainment. Then there's the opportunity to play 'educational' movies in the evening before the nightime activities.... but you weren't thinking of that were you?
  8. Exactly my thoughts too....'Good For You'...... I am a renter, and have been fortunate to have a reasonable landlord. I would like to think he regards me as a good tennant (he should, I insulated the roof at my cost and wander around with a screwdriver). There are some rtight $!nts in the world who have little regard for the property of others. You demonstrated the way to play it...signed contracts, deposit, keep records of communication and perhaps a diary of events. I wonder what the twat did with all the batteries?
  9. Hull is easier than that.... mail it in, back in a few days. Or make an appointment, drop in, and have it in an hour! 80k/month isn't bad, pretty good if you live out in the sticks. I live on about that and rent a house, own a motorbike and truck. Although I don't take my 2 trips/year to the UK from that money, and the medical and vehicle insurance due months can squeeze you. Anyhow, it's just a stop gap for 4 years until you qualify for the retirement visa.... doable!
  10. I had some cheeky tart say...'I know it 1000 baht, I can see'....... 'Yes and I want to see a 500 baht note in change I said'.... But the 500/1000 scam has not been tried on me in a decade. Just the odd missing 100 baht note in the change... Or the more than necessary coins hidden under the notes... Fair point, being aware is necessary. But I reject that it is my fault that someone manages to cheat me... as much as I blame the gold shop for being robbed for being there, or the guy getting mugged after using an ATM, for doing so. I think bar owners should be aware, watch their sta
  11. I am going out on a limb here... get back to me if I am wrong..... but somehow I don't think Israelis have a lot of time for Nazis. Israelis, when they travel, normally do so for business, something they do quite well. Apart from a bit of retaliation after Munich, there is not much record of Israelis flying anywhere to support terrorist actions. Those that do, you are right, should not be made welcome. Perhaps like Saudis in the USA, Pakistanis into India....etc etc.
  12. Excuse my being pedantic...... but presuming the costs for a single UK flight and 3 month visa runs is 1500-2k£ every 15 months.....if you cannot afford this... are you ready to be retired? I am afraid you need to accept 'change' in LOS, after all, the Government changes more often than the visa rules. Doesn't the recent change, namely the dropping of the 90/180 day rule, help many, bar those that live near a land border. It is surely the abuse of the 30 day visa waiver that has brought about these changes. Will you be getting an ED visa then.... it is being well touted on this board!?
  13. That said, but Kittens is still there. I believe they survive by catching the newbie. This is a good thread as I am a believer in 'name and shame'......So....except for 'Legs' and the place next door (Classroom?)... I would walk straight past PattayaLands, unless you are gay. Don't listen to 'Roland'...... Check this resouce out.... Pattaya GO-GO Review....
  14. Why wouldn't you just get a multi-Non-Imm O from Hull? I do not believe they restrict them to over 50s. Fly to Cambo....maybe 6500 baht if you book in advance.
  15. As you can in Pattaya. It won't take long to drive to Pattaya at that time, why head off in the opposite direction. Bangkok isn't what it used to be. Have a room booked, arrange a late check in. If you have a mobile phone, call ahead and check from the taxi. Have a few other hotel numbers handy. Then no suitcase dragging involved. I would at least be wanting a shower when I got in before hitting the streets....I'm not French.
  16. Yeah, although I have been to India and was 'not too impressed'. I am a lazy sod and paying and making the effort for visas does not appeal to me. If I have to make a visa, I figure a country isn't serious as wanting me for a tourist. I did research the Maldives, but the flights would be expensive in relation to a short stay. (Didn't have BigD down as a big softie romantic, I am as romantic as a fish supper)
  17. I would not say HUGE problem. It might happen you will be blocked in some of the Thai owned places. But Indians with money are becomming common here and mostly welcome. Tag along with a few new pals from the FLB!
  18. Too expensive out there..... once hammered my Amex...., drunk in charge of a credit card!
  19. Book Mr T or Mr Toom to pick you up, or just get a taxi, there will be some available and you will zoom to Pattaya at that time. Bite the bullet and pay for a room that night of arrival, you will appreciate it! Some places might not let you check in until 2pm, you are planning to stay up all night and the next morning after a long ass flight to save 1200 baht?
  20. Sightseeing primarily, I live in Pattaya so partying is nothing new. Good suggestions. Is Luang Prabang rather cold this time of year? I am getting a sense that a British passport would require a visa for Vietnam, or some pre-approval to receive a visa at the airport. Is that correct.
  21. I nearly missed your last word and had the torch ready! ......This guy is looking for an alternate that might have space over New Year?
