  1. No, you are correct that you know sweet FA about premium bonds and prefer to go on about things in the USA. They are a specific item offered by the UK treasury, bought for £1 each, up to £30k. The interest (1%) goes into a prize fund whereby bond numbers are selected at random and you can win a monetary prize, like a lottery. The bond always retains its £1 value and is entered for the draw each month.
  2. You missed out the possibility you would be mistaken for Middle Eastern, another group not always welcome. Other than that you seem to catch on pretty well. If you have any issue, try a small tip!Nice to discuss and hear the opinions of someone ......with a different perspective.
  3. Yeah, looks like John Hurt in Alien! Lobster Pot. Kings Seafood.
  4. Where are Menus available? I have little confidence in Websites being kept up-to-date.
  5. Qatar's schedule via Manchester need not include an 8 hour layover...... for £100 I wouldn't take it. Surprising though, I would have hung out a bit, sure something would have come up with Ethiad/Emirates/Qatar at a better price and the dreaded Heathrow could have been avoided. It normally means reduced taxes too.

Sounds like you are not actually a member yet. See MM's (The MAN) post above. Member's area provides a lot more information and entertainment.

  9. Why is the board clogged up with nesting quotes that go 5-6 deep this morning? Some configuration change that makes this happen automatically? Don't like it, a page is now 80% full of old stuff and you have to look closely for the one liners.... ya hear that Rick?
  10. OK for me, on a not-so-fast Thai connection. Did you click on 'Map' with the same black-screen result. Check what Joekicker said above. Browser? If you are using IE7, try Mozilla Firefox, you will be glad for several reasons.
  11. Thick skinned, intelligent and eloquent. You will be okay. Thailand is a free society, and that includes letting them make their own mind up about foreigners. It also allows them to behave accordingly without fear. Many laws protect the indigenous population. Thai people people look to family first, other Thais second and have lots of opinions down from there. Try to change those opinions. But they love money.... know that and use it. I have to go back to the UK soon (white and UK born), yet I feel more discriminated against there. As someone posted above, I can't even open a taxi company without being victimised and attacked in the UK. I get the impression you come from a privelidged section of society in the UK.
  12. Limited to 30K, current interest rate 1%. Chances per £1, 1 in 36,000.If you are a UK taxpayer, http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/s...-interest#fixed
  13. A Nokia N93 or N81 (for example) uses MPEG-4. FLV is used on FLB videos according to Frosty. Format Factory seems to cover this... http://www.pcfreetime.com/
  14. Boy was I glad to get that off my laptop. Slowed everything down, was cumbersome to interface with and cost money to boot! AVG (Free) + SkyBot S&D have since served me well, for free.
  15. Are you Indian or British?Anytime you might pop into the FLB, you would likely find BMs who would be quick to socialise. There are also quite a lot of Go-Go bars very popular with British of Indian descent. The few that discriminate are that, the few. Welcome to Pattaya!
  16. Which is kinda what 'launch' means to me, rather than a light bulb going on somewhere in a Seattle office.
  17. Full price for you Tom, can you handle the mystery amount +10%
  18. Saudi couple, Ahmed and Layla, preparing for their wedding, meet with their Mullah for counselling. The Mullah asks if they have any last questions before they leave. Ahmed asks, "We realize it's tradition in Islam for men to dance with men, and women to dance with women. But, at our wedding reception, we'd like your permission to dance together." "Absolutely not," says the Mullah. "It's immoral. Men and women always dance separately." "So after the ceremony I can't even dance with my own wife?" "No," answered the Mullah, "It's forbidden in Islam." "Well, okay," says Ahmed, "What about sex? Can we finally have sex?" "Of course!" replies the Mullah, "Allah Akbar! (GOD is great) Sex is OK within marriage, to have children!" "What about different positions?" asks the man. "Allah Akbar! Mafi Mushkila (no problem)," says the Mullah. "Woman on top?" Ahmed asks. "Sure," says the Mullah. "Allah Akbar. Go for it!" "Doggy style?" "Sure! Allah Akbar!" "On the kitchen table?" "Yes, yes! Allah Akbar!" "Can I do it with all my four wives together on rubber sheets with a bottle of hot oil, a couple of vibrators, leather harnesses, a bucket of honey and a porno video?" "You may indeed. Allah Akbar!" "Can we do it standing up?" "No, absolutely not!" says the Mullah." "Why not?" asks the man. "Because that could lead to dancing''
  19. I have had something similar here, booking via a UK website that might or might not, have been Orbitz. I was trying to book a biz class fare, and when I looked at the booking (prior to hitting the pay button fortunately), noticed the class. At first I thought the mistake was simply a wrong class field in the booking, and that I would get Biz.... but I wasn't prepared to take that risk. I guessed it to be a software glitch, either with Orbitz or the airline. This is not a mispriced product on a supermarket shelf where you can insist you pay the sticker price. Orbitz point at AA. they will point back to Orbitz. Go elswhere, at least they let you cancel without charge. The idea that an upgrade will be offered (perhaps, if available and nobody else wants it) is not First Class and you are correct to say it is dishonest. Don't risk a coronary.
  20. Nice to hear sympathy for all of us who have lost 30% of the value of our income in baht terms, and 100% of our income from account interest.
  21. That comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek MM, hitting the reset button or powering down was ''fix-it, step 1' in my old world too. It has worked a few times for me now. Other than getting a new IP address and refreshing the DNS I can't figure it. More essentially, why does it specifically affect your board, as I speedtest quite well to a server in the West Coast USA. My old fault-finding mentality says we are looking at a couple of problems coming together. Maxnet seem to be up to something!

  23. I'm not in the UK.....
  24. I thought I suggested the ADSL router/modem reset in my first post! I just has the same problem again, so I tried a couple of speedtests... I got really great resuilts (from LOS to both UK and West Coast USA) and most other sites were really fast. Pattayatalk just left me waiting, A UK proxy server got me in but again I couldn't post, only read. So the modem/router got reset, and I am in.... Back to the shitty speeds though..... Edit Later... My speed has picked up again... Pretty good considering to UK at 9pm LOS!!
  25. Fair point Tom, presented with slight Papillon tones.
