I agree, I thought it was hotter, but probably the humidity makes it feel that way.I don't have a thermometer about... so the numbers came off yahoo! No, I believe it is better (weather-wise) in the UK (for now), sunny and a balmy 16degC, even in the wilds north of Luton! Can't afford a place with a pool!

I used to fly BA to Saudi a lot, bags often didn't make the Heathrow transfer. We were all well versed in the procedure of INSISTING on an immediate cash payment to cover the need to buy toiletries and a change of clothes. They always tried to lie their way out of it, or fob us off, but were actually dodging the legal requirements. Make them pay!

Ouch........ turn that AC off!

It's pretty hot in Pattaya away from the sea. Think it was 35 today, but sitting at traffic lights on your motorcycle with the sun baking your head it could be anything. By afternoons I am holing up in the bedroom, nap and aircon. At 4pm I look longingly north and east hoping for some thunderstorms to bubble up. My kitchen gets the afternoon sun and should be done out in pine like a sauna. I miss the big trees that used to be at the back. My electricity bill will be a whopper!

Yep, get your orders in early!(Why do you talk like Paris Hilton?

I don't think I have been on a Biz Class flight ever, that did not have a personal screen. Mostly, they come out from a compartment under the armrest.

But you do talk a lot of independent minded sense. Listening to someone recently, a point was made...... There are a few indicators that will cause further downturn in the world economy, one of which is the lack of support offered by institutions for accountability. I feel this is pertinent, with all this easy money floating about, will it be a question of 'well that's over and done with, where were we?'........here we go again?

HARD ROCK and guest friendly..

It bloody well wasn't when I stopped there, they let her in but I had to pay up!Mind you it was called the Merlin then! -
You weren't in Business Class already?
-
Tom, this print is a bit small to see, but looks like Ex Bangkok, at 71,600 baht Biz Class. The connections in Doha look pretty good too. All booked directly on the website? Edit... I just had a try for a September flight ex BKK. Best I could come up with was 75K+11.6 Taxes.....nearly £1700. Even then it is a restricted fare and you have to juggle dates to avoid the dreaded 8 hour layover. Pauly77... wow, quite a bargain. You would expect the taxes to be that much! Cheaper than a train ticket to London!

It's reasonable advice to be wary of who you trust, knowledge learned at many a Pattaya barstool. I have seen some quite despicable behaviour, like a daughter (30+) drawing extra money from her mother's account while getting some for mom! A neighbour's live-in bringing a truck and heavies, and a bent policeman to clear his house, leaving it uninhabitable. Having things in your own name makes sense in the event of a break-up. These events are apt to happen suddenly. Having to go crawling back to her to sell your car is inconvenient. If it is her bike to use and keep, put it in her name by all means. If you would rather keep it, put it in your own name like an adult. Of if you don't care, why the hell ask in the first place.

WELL GOOD LUCK MATE......... Does the reasonable price include the lazy GF and would it cost more without her? (Joke)
-
Reason for sale? The 4 mile claim to nearest 7-11, does that include the 2 that have opened in the last several months on Soi Siam CC? I might add there is a fair bit of passing traffic as many use this road to head to the Bangkok motorway (7) and Rayong Expressway (36).

What, you can't take somebody else's word for it that she ain't too pretty?
-
Yes, I heard that and hardly surprising. I think the flight used to go via Delhi once which kept me off it in those days.
-
Agreed and yes I do. Of course the house ownership is a bit of an exception, forcing us towards leases, company ownership or condos. Your own bank account is a must.... do not ever make use of the GFs account because 'It is easier and I trust her'. Being lazy, and letting her shop for all the fixtures and fittings out of her account, might come back to haunt you one day. How long before you feel trust.... a personal thing this, but anyone not counting in years is being reckless.

How the hell did all those Ozzies get in then??? C'mom Bruce, just a bit of fun!

Sorry mate, I am nearer Obsession than you on this one. I am currently 'retired' over in Thailand. When I go to the UK many of my friends aim to do similar, retire overseas, or have done so already. It is not only the financial benefits, (I would be heavily taxed in the UK) Where I grew up, as a kid enjoying life, is a scruffy, litter strewn ghetto now. Indianbrit, it is early and I do not recall where you actually live in the UK, probably not East London though.

DELIVERY EXPRESS Food delivery service
jacko replied to Delivery Express's topic in Restaurants and food
Quite the sleuth our Tom is! As I would have deliveries to the house, where I have cold beer in the fridge, drinks not required for me. I have a D2D menu in front of me, and would like one from this new boy on the block. As stated I do not trust internet menus here, it is too difficult discussing non-availability or price changes over a mobile phone, with my miserable Thai, or mispronounced English. -
Only a couple of times per week and an early departure. Not many bargains. I think I might use them soon as biz class is moving out of range.
-
Just buy a ticket to LOS or Malaysia, then use Air Asia to bounce around a bit. Doesn't cover Eastern Europe but they do the rest.
-
Funny that, I had to bring along my rental agreement to get a residence letter. Has it become easier?
-
More an issue on the Atlantic routes, particularly from Heathrow,

DELIVERY EXPRESS Food delivery service
jacko replied to Delivery Express's topic in Restaurants and food
Bloody hell, 180 baht for a fish finger. I would expect up to the shoulder joint for that! -
That's interesting Tom, I saw the 777 scheduled too, and fares were looking 'a possible' for me. Aside... watching some sexually frustrated lady on the BBC and there was some discussion about wanting rather large (environmental) taxes on airtravel from the UK. $500 per biz class longhaul was mentioned. That might get me grumpily squashed back in an economy seat gritting my teeth as the kid next to me hits his little table with his plastic truck!
