In the Pattaya People Classifieds this week...... Daewoo Nexia (what?) 1.5GLS for 150,000 Daewoo Espero 75,000 I think you need to up your price. I often see clunkers parked with an advert on them in your range... but wouldn't trust them. Not much in your 'range' in Pattaya Mail either.

I had openoffice and to be honest wasn't too impressed with it. It took ages to open some of the files.I got a freebie Office 2003 and worked with that for years. Then with the new laptop came 2007 trial, and I liked it. For $100 (Home and Student), I'll go along with it, but for the Professional, too expensive and I still I might be dusting off the 2003 CDs. Office Depot in Pattaya doesn't stock software, in fact it stocks soft heads as I couldn't get my needs across! Some of the staff there are more worried about their make-up...... which as men they shouldn't bloody wear anyhow!

Yes, good point, talk to Steve!

Surely no worse than their Eastern neighbours?

Thanks... I had looked at Microsoft Thailand site but couldn't get past the Thai language. These banner mad sites make my eyes glaze over.... I suppose Office Depot (I think it is) by Homework/BigC South Pattaya.

Not really a techie problem or question..... My Free Trial of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional expires very soon, and no way will I pay the price to activate it. Home and Student Edition would suffice, and looks to be about $US100. Now I am over here in LOS, I was wondering where I could buy an Original for this software, in ENGLISH, in Pattaya? (No dodgy copies please.) I know it can be bought online, but I would like a hard copy, have a suspect Internet connection for the big download, and payment is awkward... (trying to avoid UK VAT!!!) Thanks Guys....

Thailand Health Insurance Expat Expert Needed
jacko replied to midlifecrisis's topic in Expat Issues
I don't have any argument with you on what you say Torrenova. But on the one hand you rubbish the Expats Club group plan, and on the other suggest using the AA Insurance broker. Of course the Expats Club group plan is arranged through..........AA Insurance. -

The police seem much 'nicer' out in the sticks up north. You get stopped, they check licences, but non of the blatant aggro or squeeze for a donation to the tea fund. Quite refreshing after Pattaya I find.

I would be very wary of recommending TT&T Indy at the moment! For international traffic, it has turned to shit, with abysmal speeds. I was reading the bitching and groaning over on Thaivisa last night. Rumours of problems with International gateway. Rumours of deliberate choking of Indy service to force (farangs) to go Premier. Rumours of TT&T Internet going bankrupt and a 'Jasmine' takeover... Only thing that isn't a rumour, my speed is abysmal and I doubt I will be paying this month. (Visits to office achieve nothing except being lied to) As to changing DNS, well yes I have been trying that, can't be sure it help. It wouldn't improve speed that's for sure, but maybe connection time to the correct server. I change mine by accessing my modem/router rather than within Windows.

Ground transportation options - BKK / Pattaya

Yes my TGF came back from the airport cheaply recently. I had told her to look out for Bell, but at the same location someone sidled up to her and told her it was expensive. Left from the same area, was 124 baht, and from the Reung Ruen company. The bus was going on to Jomtiem Beach but dropped her conveniently on Sukhumvit. -

Mr Toom still operates. Mr T does too. Dream Transport has a good reputation here too.... Link to review -
Yes there is........I was stuck next to a Korean once and as some know they like garlic, boy did he stink, I was ready to throw up! Thais can have their food related odours too, particularly noticeable if you haven't been eating Thai. They just complain about others body odour, but I have found they aren't particularly receptive to similar critique!

Yes, but unlikely. They just hope you prefer the perfumes. They tend to fill the machines well, and of course your stuff gets mixed with other guys.
-
Likely that too.My paarticular example was a Biz Class flight, but a cheaper fare basis (D or I?). Couldn't get my usual exit row.
-
Yes you have. But I didn't come to LOS to hide away in the country with only Thais.... I think you can mix and match. There are plenty of reasons for living here, other than avoiding your own countrymen. Mine, well I have outgrown my country, or rather it has turned to shit. I have little in common with many there, particularly the new generations. Thailand offers a better climate and more reasonable costs. The 'taxes' are tolerable. Of course the locals can be agreeable, but you can find decent falangs too who have escaped home for all the same reasons. Enjoying their company in sunshine and surroundings not available to me back in blighty, being with those of your ilk, is like comfort food. And yes, that too, the odd falang meal goes down well. No little legs get stuck in one's teeth, teeth which you can get attended to here! Good luck with that lifestyle, you seem to like it.

They mostly wash and press.........and do a fair job. Perhaps on the islands you find some that just wash and fold. In the rainy season, clothes are often not quite dry!

Better, I didn't say great! That sort of thing has to be done at 5-7am! The fact that I can post is an improvement on the last 2 nights at 6-7pm

Seems to be better tonight...so far.

Thanks for posting and the details. It is disturbing to me that BPH operates in such a way that the patient is capable of damaging himself during the procedure. I guess that the surgeon took some responsibility for his actions.... But the hospital did not offer protection against errors.... The second surgeon's expenses were not covered nor any responsibility taken. As far as the hospital was concerned, it was an opportunity to make more money while you were in panic mode. Nor do I like this idea of being forced to sign documents that are incomprehensible. My overall impression is negative. Thank you for the benefit of your experience, and please post a follow up in a little while.
