  1. WHATEVER........ anyhow thanks a bunch, we can now get along on our own, strong currency, build our own better aircraft and cars.
  2. Big D, every now and again, you justify the doctored photograph!
  3. Yes, that kept me off them......wasn't 'Cross Air' involved in that? They don't seem to turn up much in the 'cheap Biz Class' searches I do!
  4. Every time I hear the little red motorbike music, I salivate... Mmmmmm.........Magnum.......
  5. I was always worried Swiss would go bankrupt... I used KLM a lot, also combination KLM/China Airlines.... Since I started buying my tickets ex-Bangkok I go where the best Biz Class bargain is.

    BA

I don't go to the airport based on the beer. Heathrow may be better if you arrive from the London area, but I would need to transit from a Manchester shuttle. Heathrow is a miserable, crowded, hotch potch of extensions and security checks staffed by people with attitude and poor English skills. I have been delayed, held hostage on aircraft, lied to, bustled, made to stand in long lines multiple times, forced to walk miles, squashed onto little busses, had to walk in pouring rain, flight cancellations...had to collect suitcases and repeat security unnecessarily.....the jetway doesn't work, the gates are full, it is expensive and the Hopper busses suck too. Not only my thoughts... T5 was going to be the answer, but the BA Bangkok flights don't leave from there! Singapore, Hong Kong, Schiphol and even Bangkok all work better.
  7. Probably only the United players can afford that! I am presuming Manchester passengers get to stay on the aircraft at Munich, but still, getting down and back up again in European airports (particularly in winter) adds time and delay possibilities. Recent days being an example.... I didn't consider SQ when they used to stop off in Delhi, Munich isn't as bad but will increase flying time...... might be better to change at Munich for a direct to Bangkok!

    Heathrow......
  9. Supply and demand, seats get scarce anyhow over Christmas and new year. Looks like the strike has been averted so BA might have some seats!
  10. Well someone has his head in the clouds.......
  11. The airport in Kuwait City isn't much of a place to transit through, so ensure no long wait there.
  12. Yes, BA train their pilots to land the plane anyplace, and Heathrow, when not on strike.Thai only take off and go in a big circle do they?
  13. Video.....jeez dem wings bend.....
  14. Well I got mine in Saudi Arabia so the pork was 'off the menu'.....
  15. Well the Biz Class price isn't attractive, and even in economy SQ rarely compete. Will the SQ aircraft come to Manchester or are they doing a deal with Lufthansa? Sad, another option 'lost'..... the Middle Eastern carriers have sewn up Manchester. It was expected SQ would drop Manchester altogether.
  16. Looks like BA are going over the cliff with the recent announcement of industrial action over the Christmas period.
  17. I would avoid the way I did it.....by bus from Nong-Khai. Rather a decrepid little bus that followed the river for a while. Quite an adventure!
  18. Phoenix
  19. Agreed, me and a mate get picked up and brought home after a night out sometimes too!
  20. Yes correct, so for me, EVA are bad!
  21. To fly EVA, which is the subject of the thread. Do they go from other European hubs? There are NO direct flights to Bangkok from 'The North of England'..... changing at LHR should at least be as easy as changing in Amsterdam, sadly the staff at LHR and BA can't handle that!
  22. While I have a grasp of the 'keeping active' idea, not sure you have got a grip of 'retiring' in LOS! Nowhere to walk to from my place.... and the soi dogs make that a hazzard. A trip to the 7-11 aint' worth maneuvering the truck. There are a couple of places I visit in Pattaya, but the frustration of sitting in traffic and finding parking gets to me, but the TGF loves to drive the truck around and has been known to 'get the beer'.
  23. That is a poor time to arrive, early AM works better for those wanting to get to Manchester/ Scotland.I would be lucky to catch the last (20.35) up to Manchester, and then likely no trains from there.
  24. Impressive, the bad report was only 1 post and 16 hours earlier.
