Boy oh boy, some people are going to be disappointed if they get off the tourist track!

The other 'arrested' thread reminded me of a recent incident. My 'more comprehensive' motorcycle insurance is due, and the reminder arrived by email. It also included a quote for the compulsory, but somewhat lacking, insurance. Well it is advisable that these two are from the same supplier, to avoid claim complications. But I wondered if I would be wasting any insurance time on the compulsory, which I paid for at the vehicle registration place at the same time as I got the 'tax disc'. So I dug it out from under the motorcycle seat, where it had been for 10 months in a little plastic folder. It is like a receipt from the ATM or Tesco. I tried to look for a date on it, it is completely blank, all the ink/type has faded to nothing. A bit like the ATM printouts do. I wonder what a policeman would make of this if I was ever stopped. Check yours!

Yes, as was sorting out my incorrect change. But are these 'mistakes' a little more common here? That is the question! Are the mistakes always to the disadvantage of the customer?

Well I did pop in. Had a lot of fun. The girls seemed to be in party mode, and the service staff were polite and on the ball. The music level was good too. My tab was taken and the change returned quickly..... Too much change, a lot of unnecessary coinage, which probably produced the wrong effect and made me count it. Yes, someone thought my name was Roland........it was 10 baht short! But the 'mistake' was quickly corrected. Without any dirty looks that one sometimes gets from such incidents.

Considering oil is cheaper than it has been for 20 months I am surprised any airline currently has fuel surcharges.

Hmm, I thought there was an air attack on a power station Oct 28th, 2008. This is barely 2 weeks ago, near Colombo, Also bombs killed 16 about a year ago again in the capital. If the Government clears up the problem I would love to return to your country......had a great holiday there many years ago.

Yes of course, and the other way around too. The only ever problem I had was when both were out and it transpired to be a physically damaged line down the street. They hang down all over like vines! My neighbour got fed up and had a seperate line just for the ADSL put in. Not sure if there is a telephone utility he isn't utilizing. Tom's Maxnet down south seems better than mine in Pattaya (claimed 3M/0.5), I never see download speeds that good.

And likely I will too... as said a 3 day closure coming so last chance before we go to the mattresses.

I thought the mechanics of the pump wouldn't let it happen. There was a station near where I worked in Saudi where this was going on... and petrol was pretty cheap. Easier just to avoid that station!

I think the weather is on the turn. We had a breezy day or two and the evenings seem cooler. Normally indicates the start of the cold season, as Thais call it, great weather for European farangs and a time when my electric bills are less. Apparently it is quite cool up north now, 17 deg daytime in Chiangrai.

I will probably go to Lake Mapbrachan, it is near to where I live and I prefer not to take on the driving! The nicest I ever spent was out in Na Jomtiem. As far as you can go down Jomtiem beach, where the fishing boats are, there is an estuary and some good seafood restaurants.
