  1. I guess they particularly want the Visa Waiver to be for tourists who are in LOS for a few weeks. (The 90 days in 180 rule will probably go, as it is complicated to administer, particular at border crossings.) This is not very good news for the visa run companies! I think that is what they want to cut back on, people are still living here long term by a mix of tourist visas and 30 day waivers . No doubt our resident experts will be going into details at one of the Expat club meetings soon. Every time the rules change, they come up with a lucrative circumvention.
  2. Bangkok Hilton one hopes!
  3. So the agency has no responsibility for the criminal actions of it's employees and passes the cost on to the customers. Pretty shitty... The busines is crying out for ABTA (approved association). Your only 'Joy' might be a private court case, but it is like throwing good money after bad. I have dealt weith these guys but it was only a visa run. You have done some good, I will use cash, at the agency, get a receipt, and, as has happened, see the money given over to a 'cashier' in the place. Tell me, whose name was the SBC (not SCB???) account in.... not the name of Joy Travel?
  4. They ran out of places, as the ones they had turned into quite successful countries.
  5. If they start a Manchester to Hong Kong route, I would be very interested. As it is, I certainly do not want to go via LHR! I use them from Bangkok to Singapore, they have a great deal on Biz class and the timings are great.
  6. I can't get my head around this one, my cool head says who has the divine right to order the death of another... my hot head says they have rejected society, society owes them nothing and the world would be a better place without them. We make more laws that protect criminals than prosecute them.
  7. Yeah I think I got the wrong place. As to service, no, I go out to restaurants a lot and this was not typical. Generally they are much better around Pattaya. (Also not the first time I have had this lack of knowing how to get it together either. If you move around on the link I gave you, there is a car sales place next door under the blue billboard.
  8. Why not, it is in my post...about 11? I agree the town has been strange the last week or two though. Most certainly the cramped atmosphere helps the Windmill, but the energy and madness of the place is retained. I felt the girls were looking a bit less enthusiastic in Babydolls.... the most energy I saw was Ricky dashing up there clanging that bell. Perhaps just an on-the night thing, I will still be there in a day or two!
  9. I normally hit there at about 11pm. To be honest it has looked like it is losing it's 'edge' the last 2 or 3 visits. Couldn't put my finger on it, (oops, bad phraseology), mainly fewer customers. Yet the Windmill, very simlar, retains it's atmosphere and crowds.
  10. Yeah, he's dead good.
  11. The San Migs are in the fridge ready! What is the going rate, I offer 1 bottle per dead dog...
  12. Haven't I seen one of those pics before? Where did you get it from?
  13. I went looking for the one you described tonight. The one on the Southbound carriage... about 300m after Tesco Lotus. It was called rhua mai (wooden boat).. it was near a garage. All wood, built over a small smelly lake, and you can eat on a pontoon type thing that wobbles as the waiters pace about. Food was okay, that which managed to arrive, nice ambiance and cheap too. But service was a cluster fuck.... the old trick of bringing one of your dishes, to stop you leaving .. the rice a few minutes later. Then several minutes wait for the second. a while to the third, and one dish completely forgotten about. I was thinking I got the wrong place, there is a much bigger one over a lake further South, but it is certainly much more than 300m from Tesco-Lotus. This is the place I went to... http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?zzmRUhSvkceBED3A
  14. Yeah great idea, they should copy that on Walking St.... Can't say I noticed anybody going outside to smoke in that area. I was in Oasis and there seemed to be no restriction.... that law failed.
  15. Normally am if I haven't been on the town. Have to adapt to the neighbours in Thailand, and their kids and their dogs and their chickens....and the new Bangkok International Airport at U-Tapao produces a lot of early AM noise!
  16. Yeah the other one is easy to spot, it has a fishing park doesn't it?
  17. So it is someplace between Threppasit and Homeworks/Big C on Sukhumvit? Do you need to get over to the left quick after that U-turn because for the life of me I cannot think of the place.Maybe here? http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?9UpRUbGvkcsEPD3A
  18. Have to go along with that, I was in last night. Mostly couples, quite full. Very pleasant to sit out over the sea on a cool evening. Food took a while to arrive but we were warned, 5 minutes after ordering, but at 20 mins not excessive. I think the kitchen might have capacity issues during 'meal times'. A few freelancers and men at the bar, that would likely change later when dining hour was over. Some staff exhibited a great attitude, but for some reason our waitress was a bit sour faced and was speaking by rote. (she messed up, she took a job where she is required to work ) Food was quite good, but as has been mentioned before some items were cold, namely vegetables which were also near raw. From what I have read here these gripes will be resolved as attention to detail and critique is high on the owners business model, it most certainly will do well.
  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_majeure Although Wikipedia states 'frees both parties from liability or obligation', normally one party is getting off the hook!
  20. Thanks for a useful post. My TGF has been trying to get me to take her to this one on Suk for ages. You prompted me with the 'good price too' comment.
  21. The Liverpool manager flies to Baghdad to watch a young Iraqi play football, and is suitably impressed and arranges him to come over to Anfield. Two weeks later Liverpool are 4-0 down to Man Utd with only 20 minutes left. The manager gives the young Iraqi striker the nod and on he goes. The lad is a sensation, scores 5 goals in 20 minutes and wins the game for Liverpool . The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are delighted and the media love the new star. When the player comes off the pitch he phones his mum to tell her about his first day in English football. 'Hello mum, guess what?' he says 'I played for 20 minutes today, we were 4-0 down but I scored 5 and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all love me.' 'Wonderful,' says his mum, 'Let me tell you about my day. Your father got shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed, gang raped and beaten and your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while you were having such great time.' The young lad is very upset. 'What can I say mum, but I'm so sorry. 'Sorry?!!! Sorry?!!!' says his mum, 'It's your bloody fault we moved to Liverpool in the first place!'
  22. The URL at the top of your browser does not change as you wander around, so copying that isn't enough. Click on the arrow at the top left of the picture, There you get the updated location and you can copy and paste from there.http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?NZxRUXdrkcME4CZB
  23. Nothing direct came up when I did a quick search. You perhaps know where you can get to from Shanghai..... perhaps Hong Kong would give access to Budget Carriers....., . Direct options are... Air India Thai China Southern go via Guangzhou, or Cathay via HK.
