Thanks, I though I recollected seeing one of their aircraft a few times many years ago when landing at Manchester. I was worried I was daydreaming. Best connection is still via Singapore then, if you can afford it!

I guess they particularly want the Visa Waiver to be for tourists who are in LOS for a few weeks. (The 90 days in 180 rule will probably go, as it is complicated to administer, particular at border crossings.) This is not very good news for the visa run companies! I think that is what they want to cut back on, people are still living here long term by a mix of tourist visas and 30 day waivers . No doubt our resident experts will be going into details at one of the Expat club meetings soon. Every time the rules change, they come up with a lucrative circumvention.

If they start a Manchester to Hong Kong route, I would be very interested. As it is, I certainly do not want to go via LHR! I use them from Bangkok to Singapore, they have a great deal on Biz class and the timings are great.

Yeah I think I got the wrong place. As to service, no, I go out to restaurants a lot and this was not typical. Generally they are much better around Pattaya. Why not, it is in my post...about 11? I agree the town has been strange the last week or two though. Most certainly the cramped atmosphere helps the Windmill, but the energy and madness of the place is retained. I felt the girls were looking a bit less enthusiastic in Babydolls.... the most energy I saw was Ricky dashing up there clanging that bell. Perhaps just an on-the night thing, I will still be there in a day or two!

I normally hit there at about 11pm. To be honest it has looked like it is losing it's 'edge' the last 2 or 3 visits. Couldn't put my finger on it, (oops, bad phraseology), mainly fewer customers. Yet the Windmill, very simlar, retains it's atmosphere and crowds.

I went looking for the one you described tonight. The one on the Southbound carriage... about 300m after Tesco Lotus. It was called rhua mai (wooden boat).. it was near a garage. All wood, built over a small smelly lake, and you can eat on a pontoon type thing that wobbles as the waiters pace about. Food was okay, that which managed to arrive, nice ambiance and cheap too. But service was a cluster fuck.... the old trick of bringing one of your dishes, to stop you leaving .. the rice a few minutes later. Then several minutes wait for the second. a while to the third, and one dish completely forgotten about. I was thinking I got the wrong place, there is a much bigger one over a lake further South, but it is certainly much more than 300m from Tesco-Lotus. Yeah great idea, they should copy that on Walking St.... Can't say I noticed anybody going outside to smoke in that area. I was in Oasis and there seemed to be no restriction.... that law failed.

Normally am if I haven't been on the town. Have to adapt to the neighbours in Thailand, and their kids and their dogs and their chickens....and the new Bangkok International Airport at U-Tapao produces a lot of early AM noise!

Have to go along with that, I was in last night. Mostly couples, quite full. Very pleasant to sit out over the sea on a cool evening. Food took a while to arrive but we were warned, 5 minutes after ordering, but at 20 mins not excessive. I think the kitchen might have capacity issues during 'meal times'. A few freelancers and men at the bar, that would likely change later when dining hour was over. Some staff exhibited a great attitude, but for some reason our waitress was a bit sour faced and was speaking by rote. (she messed up, she took a job where she is required to work ) Food was quite good, but as has been mentioned before some items were cold,namely vegetables which were also near raw. From what I have read here these gripes will be resolved as attention to detail and critique is high on the owners business model, it most certainly will do well.
