  1. It is nice to have other expats around just to help you learn the ropes and to ask questions. Socially it is also nice to converse with people from the same background now and again.
  2. I am more likely to live in Jomtien or some place near but not in Pattaya.
  3. I like my Samsung.
  4. I think you meant are there safes in the room. I am sure their rooms are safe. There is no mention on their website. They do give contact info: http://www.flippergroup.com/flipper_house/index.html
  5. That might have been the former Jenny Star Bar
  6. He makes Harris Black look like a saint. I hope he doesn't end up in Pattaya!
  7. abracadabra - he's gonna reach out and grab - Villa!
  8. It may seem harsh but the rules are spelled out on the site. We gain wisdom from our mistakes, not our successes.
  9. I am staying at the Irish Rovers over the Christmas holidays. I have stayed at the Pasadena Lodge as I posted above. I see nothing wrong with adding opinions to other lodging on the soi to broaden the awareness of the OP and other readers of this thread. It allows for comparison and knowledge of multiple options. It is like saying to the OP, I think you may be disappointed with A or B but here is C to consider.
  10. yes 4 AM like clockwork and my room? right above the pool
  11. Eastiny 7 with rooms overlooking soi 7 are extremely noisy late into the night, even high up. I will go back to LK Metro
  12. You need to read carefully when booking online through any site including directly through a hotel, airline, etc. Travel insurance is a good option when booking far in advance, then if something unfortunate occurs you will have refund options. I should heed my own advice on that one as I am pre-booked for Christmas and New Year.
  13. They want the government to call for new elections. It will take more than 100K protestors to accomplish that but the can certainly stir the pot.
  14. ah but think of the women with the plates in their lips.
  15. She has extracted birthday money from me on numerous occasions. See her when you do get there. She was off with a sponsor in January when I was there. The cold European winters must have gotten to her. She is one smart lady and a good lover!
  16. I agree on the seats on EVA both negative in business class and positive in elite class Even so, bc was nice as an upgrade and with service and all was ok for me. I liked it. I always fly EVA because it is the best on getting me to Pattaya when I want to get there from San Francisco. I am considering flying business again at $3800 in december vs $1800 for Elite class. That is why I am asking how you all find the best deals. Now that I have used almost all my air miles on my January upgrade, I could switch to another airline if I can find one that gets me to Bangkok midday to mid-afternoon.
  17. bad deal was sarcasm. it is an incredibly good deal and China Air cannot be so horrible as to pass it by - that was my point. The best deal I could find so far was 3K usd on Philippines Air and and 3800 dollars on EVA. I am always interested in finding sites that have better opportunities. It would please me if you would answer my question. My advice is to jump on this deal. China Air cannot possibly be so bad in business class that it is not worth 1300 dollars. I would like to see if they offer anything when I plan to go next. Please educate me on where I can find deals like this. Here is a site I found: http://www.airbrokers.com/html/india_asia_...CFQMsawodmQ_tcw Are sites like this of any value?
  18. It is business class for $1300 How bad could it be? That is less than EVA elite class at $1800. My question is - how do I find bad deals like that?
  19. by depreciation I think he meant maintainence, etc. it was just a thought.
  20. to the op - stayed E7 in January. They wanted all up front
  21. I think he is buying a condo and leasing it out.
  22. I have stayed at the Pasadena Lodge and my only complaint was that in my room the shower water went from cold to super hot to cold.... and was impossible to regulate. The room was a bit small but a very comfy bed for two and a room safe. The owner is a grumpy Belgian but his staff is nice - and he doesn't matter. :)
  23. I'd let her blow me. Those glasses have to stay on! A new idea for Soi 6 - celebrity of the week! I would make a special trip for Angelina Jolie
  24. One of the few times when white IS right!
  25. I stayed in August. The room was nice. My one complaint was the shower went from cold to hot to cold to hot...almost impossible to adjust. The owner is a bit of a Belgian grouch but no real complaints there. Rockhouse is a few doors down as are 2 or 3 other places.
