There is another pie sellers on Soi Buakhao, which is also shite. Its right at the top of Soi Diana and turn right. I had a pastie there the other day and it was terrible, cannot descibe how bad it was AND it was 80 b. I ditched it and went straight up the road to grab a whole spit roast chicken for the lady opposite Dres BAr which was absolutely lovely and only 110 b. far better tucker my friends.

Although not in April, this may provide some help. My mate has just booked a 6month ticket with EVA Air (Direct flight from Heathrow), departing/returning Nov - May and paid £585 through WestEast Travel. The normal fair, say for a 2 week trip would have been £485, so they seem to add a further £100 on to the ticket in order to give a long stay option. The return date is flexible, in that there is no charge for amending teh return date. You have a cheap deal on offer with Emirates, which looks good, but try www.westeasttravel.co.uk just as a comparison.

Alan, If I were you I would invite ROLAND to enjoy the festivities but BAN his "mate" (a ha, hmm hmm) who feels he had his 10 baht stolen -
Guys, My mate just booked for 30th November - paid £466 direct with Thai air, however, if he had left a week earlier he would have paid £424 with EVA Air. This is a direct flight and fully inclusive of tax. His flights have been booked and this is exactly what he has paid, so anyone in the Uk who is looking to book, check the website and get booking. www.westeasttravel.com Adam

yes, could I have some contact details for the place please. Adam

Your experience sounds poor, but also rather due to human error more than a deliberate attempt by westeast travel themselves, to try and get more money from you. I've travelled with them 10 + times and so have many friends and never had a problem and always one of the cheapest. thats my view, sorry yours was different.

went in Feb on Thai Air from BKK and apid £28 or 1960 b each way. You get FF Miles but only 500 per journey. They do cheaper deals on Thai but only down to c 1750 baht one way I think.

Always rated Areca until lats year, great location but prices rising and not fantastic rooms, pool v.good though. Someone mentioned there is a load of building work going on at rear of Areca next to the swimming pool which is noisy. I think it needs a refit as well. I would look to a serviced apartment for a month long stay and reckon you'd be getting it for around 700 b per day (from hearing ex-pats talk) meaning you'd save at least 12,000 b (£170 per month) during your stay if you avoid Areca. Pays for your flight eh!!

Hotels in the heart of the action
ajsp9 replied to twomp's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I stayed at Eastiny Place on Soi 8 first three times, which is heart of the action but learnt that pulling different birds on differnt nights from Soi 8 was sometimes a problem as had to walk past the previous nights love. Then did 4 stays at Areca Lodge, Soi Diana and now moved over teh road to LK Metropole. Top area and everything you will need within 5 mins. My recommendation is Soi Diana area -
Adam Some nice new recruits to the bar mate, which reminds me that I really must barfine the indian looking one from your place next time in town. She seems like a nice girl, is she as nice between the sheets too? Adam

I think you have to remember Gordon Browns new Green Tax applied late last year which I reckon has pushed prices up by AT least £40 compared to last year. So A £400 tickey is probabl;y now costing at least £440. My Thai flights for comparable times last year were £420 to £474 this year......a £54 increase and I can only think that the tax is the diffeence. Also try WestEast Travel who I generally use and are good.
-
Yep, its true. Booked yesterday depart 24th May - price £474 Thai direct. Eva Air (better airline IMHO, but I am close to a free flight with Thai) are quoted as £471.................fill yer boots. A cheap airfare, as I paid £496 in Feb.
-
Chivas, If you look halfway down Airline Deals page you should see MILLWALL FC's post which qoutes his (booked) fare for £380. I recollect the similar deal with WestEast Travel. I prefer direct so happy to pay £500...for now!

Good pictures Alan, I'll be dropping in next week to sample a few of your staff. Couldn't help but notice the big guy with the ginger mullet in a few of the phots.............no more of him please

Does this mean that fpeople who booked flights prior to 1st February but leave after this date will have to pay £40 at check at Heathrow....................I' m confused

I Have used West East for the last 9 trips and have always found them totally professional. Prices seem the best around and as had already been posted, the service is prompt and email confirmation is swift. I'd check the price on internet and then phone to confirm as you can discuss alternative flight times, variances in price etc (they are only slight). They dealt with my refund from a cancelled trip, after I was supposed to leave, in less than a week. thats service. Thouroughly recommended, don't hesitate in booking mate.

Well, its all done and a big thanks/advert for WESTEAST TRAVEL. Had 2 options for 26th Dec - 1st Jan and took the better flight time which cost me an extra £35. But I was offered £710 return, Direct flight with THAI. I payed £745 to dep LHR 1150 arr BKK 0610 Dep 1st Jan 1350 arr LHR 1935hrs. The person who boked it was shocked that flights were still available...........so the message is get on the phone and have a go. Adam

I am so tempted to just get back on the phone and book up NOW, especially as my mate has just arrived on Enirates and is just arriving at Honey Inn...............Just Do IT!!!!!!!

Well, fat chance has turned up an amazing £710 Thai air-------------I will decide over my lunch. it was while the wind and rain started that I thought.......'I wonder if I can get a cheap flight and escape'

Anyone got any info on travelling Boxing Day for a 5 day whirlwind trip returning 1st Jan. I'm after info on who to book with, when to look for deals, airlines etc. If I can grab a cheap flight for £500 I'm wheels up Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

I have used West East for all of my trips for the last 3 years having been recommended by a friend. I am trying to get back to Pattaya 4th April - 17th April and have been quoted £570 for either Thai or Eva - that was last week. However, I asked one of the staff about 'Promotion' and I was told that they expect the LHR - BKK direct flight with Thai to be about £420 when prices come out in January 07. Only snag is that you get 50% airlimes - I aim to wait another 6 weeks and then book. Worst case scenario is I pay £570
