  1. There are loads of good tunes listed as replies. I'm in the same court as the OP in that I've even come around to finding some rap music pretty good. My rock and roll listening started in 1955. Although its kind of sappy, I never get tired of listening to Jerry and the Pacemakers with this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8smO4VS9134
  2. no spam prob as not available here... thanks anyway.
  3. It's a matter of mind control. Worked for me on 6 years traveling and 30 years in construction. Fuck any portable toilet unless you enjoy that environment. You can do it if you want. it's just a matter of practice.

  5. \ That's an excellant analysis. The OP can and hopefully will digest it. It's first and foremost dangerous to buy in a foreign country that offers limited protection to foreign buyers. At best it may be OK but the pitfalls are pretty harsh. Joe, Tom???
  6. according to you. I only find clean walkways. How does the rest of it look? I support fees for a clean toilet facility and pay the attendant well. Fuck, I'd pay my hourly wage to the person on a per capita usage. I vote for clean attended toilets. again, I've been surprised at how clean so many bar toilets are in LOS. I only hope some of the restaurant toilets are equally as clean and the folks working there are sure to "not wash their hands". LOL
  7. We all have to use toilet facilities. This is a subject that is dear to my heart. I really don't have an issue of paying to use facilities. I simply want facilities available. As I grew up in Kalifornia, there were Service stations which morphed into gas stations which may or not have toilet facilities. I know for a fact, in Kalifornia the only business which is required to have a toilet facility available to the public is a gas station within 200 yards of an interstate highway. The finest restaurant in this state can tell a customer there's no facility available to customers. Incredible but true. I've seen some surprisingly clean toilets in LOS. If there's an attendant there who minds the thing, I'm even a more happy camper. 5 Bhat is far under my value point when it comes to relieving myself. I could survive off the French "pisswaus" (sp?) I don't do serious business away from my hotel room.
  8. She marched to her own drum.
  9. Bueiness Class. hell's bells Joe is suggesting money is no object. Shoot the works and don't let anything less than First Class touch your tired backside.
  10. I'd like to be able to access newspapers as well as books. Thoughts?
  11. I ran across this while researching a Kindle 3.
  12. I heard about this site recently on an internet talk radio program. It could save your life especially in SEA. It's pretty good. http://72hours.org/index.html
  13. I realize in the USA certain numbers are reserved for commercial accounts. Are you saying in LOS there's a price structure for numbers such as you listed for a higher than normal price? Any idea what that price might be?
  14. What's not sold today is fresh for tomorrow.
  15. Do you have an idea as to why they're scrutinizing you as much as they are? Once after a 6 month visit in SEA my luggage was searched and that was at the USA customs and surprisingly even after I told them I had a lot of prescription meds in one bag, they didn't bother to look at them. Pretty much overall as you describe your experience. The last time I went through Thai customs, as I was leaving the inspection area the Asian fellow directly in front of me was pulled off to the side by a young guy who was not even in a uniform. It happened quickly like a spider pouncing on a fly.
  16. I didn't see in your post anything about any virus, male ware, Trojan or any other of the myriad of protections a PC requires. Do you have them installed? Probably a good idea to do that if you haven't already.
  17. I want to fly from USA to BKK I did my searches on the internet and focused on Singapore Air as will as Cathey Pacific. I mostly came up disappointed. I decided to give Singapore Air a call. What a shock. Not only was I all in for an open return ticket ( one year) at 1700.USD but I was even told if I don't use the return portion, I was eligible for a partial refund. Any portion of a ticket price for a refund is a totally new thing for me. I've never heard of that before with any flight I've taken. The fare allows for unlimited ( no charge) changes for a return date. I don't plan to use the portion return but I like the option. I still like EVA but I felt the last time I flew with them the airline seemed a bit long in the tooth. I wanted to try a new airline. I hope it works out. Sometimes a change is good. I fly economy class.
  18. Time to buy a moto and forget the baht busses? I hope not.
  19. Is special the same as "secret"? LOL
  20. I thought the EVA website says the club card number has to be given at the time of booking.
  21. I don't know the name of the complex but it's about the middle of the way between central road and Big C on the East side of second road. it looked to have about 20 beer bars planned but only three were open when I left in the middle of February. I hope it makes a go of it.
  22. Joe, are you saying I could place a call from the USA to LOS or Laos and use either Rebtel or Thaitel as a service provider? Lovedog, I used some calling cards a few years back to call the PI. I learned they're unregulated and it seemed whatever minutes the company decided to charge for a brief call was entirely up the the said company.
  23. Due to my circumstance I needed to address the land line service to the house. I have A T & T cell service on two lines but the service is spotty here due to tower location in this flat area. I confirmed the world wide calling feature which provides for reduced rates and I asked about the charges for calling certain countries. I asked about Thailand: $ 0.23/minute Philippines $0.17 Australia $0.09 England $0.09 Europe to the Russian border $0.09 These rates are with a monthly calling plan which costs 5.00 USD I then asked about the charge to Laos. With the plan it's $2.43 a minute """""WITHOUT A CALLING PLAN IT'S $10.09 A MINUTE"""""" I start to wonder if Laos is supported by taxes on calls to the country. The A T & T representative said he'd worked for the company for several years and had never come across such a high rate until I asked the question I still chat minimally on occasion with a non English speaking lady I met last January in Patts. I do use Skype for Laos which is $0.20/minute. I never got a VOIP phone. Magic jack which I bought didn't work with my Mac.
