Pictures from around Pattaya
9cisco999 replied to forcebwithu's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I understand that but I think they also look like they were designed taking an idea from "Modern Architecture" Do you think the current rendition compares favorably in the least to what we knew prior to the Pandemic? -

For the life of me I don't recall ever going to the upstairs area and don't know why. I think it was a restaurant but I never took the time to explore it. I miss the beer bars on the ground level but I know that's a part of history that's just gone. -

Evil, When you say total anonymity what exactly do you mean? I signed up for Express VPN and while I'm satisfied with it it doesn't mask the fact that I'm outside the USA at all. I therefore can't access my CC account with a USA bank unless I sign up for their mobile app. Upon calling their tech support I was told it wouldn't be possible for a mere mortal to get past their VPN detector. I am curious about Onion over VPN apps I see on the Apple store.

Bus/Van Pattaya to Sriracha?
9cisco999 replied to aldriglikvid's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
While I never had occasion to try it, I'd guess for an additional fee most drivers would allow a passenger to ride in the cab without a destination hire.. I did that constantly in AC with the jeeps with no additional charge. Whoever decided on the roof height for jeeps in AC must have hated Westerners. -
The screw keeps on turning... extensions of stay!.

Of course we don't know it cause that would be in the future. But seeing as the authorities can come up with some hair brained ideas, I put very little past them. They clearly don't give a damn about shooting themselves in the foot. -

Is it going to happen down the road that the 800K has to be in the account for the entire year followed by an increase in the 800K minimum? Say something like 1.5 million? -
Would you please include in that banning the parking of rental bikes for rent. The don't need to take up 60% of Beach Road.

Maybe my memory isn't serving me well but I think this project has been ongoing for nearly a year in one shape or another. All in all I'm surprised how smoothly the traffic moves during the construction. I'm happy about that as Pattaya isn't a great place for short cuts or detours. Thanks to forcebwithu for a very good photo spread.

Even with the major construction on Beach road, the traffic flow seems to be relatively OK. I really don't think the journey from Soi 6 to Walking Street is any longer than usual.

I kind of see the difference as being most Thais are fairly poor while falangs are not so. I'd opt to give a reward in such a situation.

The Robin Hood Tavern in The Avenue (updated Dec. 6, 2019)
9cisco999 replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Thanks, Evil. Another great, informative post and another resto I'll soon be trying. I often go to Villa's at the Avenue so prior to shopping I'll stop in for a bite based on your recommendation. Are they back to doing delivery and do you know what area they cover? -

Guess if you were one of their few customers they didn't want to see their 85 baht high tailing it down the Soi. -
I think that the general public consensus of flying these days. Airlines have forgotten about customer service and then there's TSA as well.

Different strokes for sure. I feel lot's safer in a car than without any protection around me at all.

I've read several articles stating some phone cameras are even better than some DSLR cameras. Most of the time I also forget about my phone camera. -

You should try the 15" thick model, Gary. -
Your experience was certainly out of the usual but that's little consolation for you. A serious case of bad luck it was. While not EVA which I've flown many times I once had the experience of having the airlines take a bit over 40 hours to fly from California to the Dominican Republic.Same experience as with zero information about what was happening and of course nothin to soothe ruffled feathers I was rewarded at my final destination however by learning my luggage had gone missing. Two round trips to the airport at $20 a leg ($80) and I was reunited with my bag

Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)

Great posts Evil et. al. Evil, this sounds like the take over of AI coming to your nearest theater soon, " She said it couldn't as it was controlled by computer, but offered to move us to the far end of the veranda where the volume was indeed much lower. -

Thanks for your post, JONPAT. Would you please also post the type of exam you had specifically what the cost was. Also, did the doctor say what the cost would be for the"new and improved"multi focal lenses? If so how much. I'm probably long past due for some serious eye work.
